Ok this is my first every post here so I guess I should do a little intro first. We are a long term vegan family of 4. I've been vegan for about 17 years (since middle school and I saw a PETA film), my husband went vegan when we got married, and both our little girls have been vegan since conception. We are however very new to the idea of a 80%(goal right now) raw food diet. I love to cook and had been up to a this week making a mix of both raw foods and cooked foods. I sort of went "cold turkey" with cooking, read up on going raw and woke up one day and said lets do this. :D It has been very easy for me and even my husband but our two girls are having a harder time. They are 2.5 yrs old and 4.5 yrs old. The main issues we are having right now are:
1. My youngest is still having a hard time eating some raw veggies. Things like carrots and broccoli, she picks them up and chews a little bit but then takes them out of here mouth. She normally would gobble them right up when I made them steamed for her. So my question is, could I steam them for her few minutes to make them a little softer? Does this greatly reduce the nutritional value?
2. I am switching us over to homemade nutmilks. We had all been on organic soy milk up to now for drinking and cooking. I made the mistake of telling my mom this and she freaked out. Saying that homemade hemp milk could still have THC because I am making it from raw shelled seeds. (I just got a recipe from online and started making it using my blender) Is that in anyway true? I would not want to expose my girls to THC. I just though making it at home would be fun and cheap as apposed to buying it in the store for $4:eek: a quart.
