I have a Nesco Amercian Harvest Dehydrator that I got for Christmas. It has an adjustable thermostat, and the lowest setting is 95 degrees. My flax cracker batter has been feeling REALLY warm when I flip it onto the mesh tray, so tonight I decided to stick a thermometer into the dehydrator and after a few minutes in there it read 130 degrees! It was set at 95 degrees.  !?!

So all my dehydrated "raw" food hasn't been raw. Should I call the manufacturer and complain? Guess I will be ordering an Excalibur tomorrow that I assume won't have this problem? Luckily I haven't been using my dehydrator for the past few weeks...no wonder I have started to see and feel some improvements in my health!! However I have missed my sweet potato chips and flax crackers :(

Any thoughts? Advice or opinions?

I would definately that to the company....maybe you can get some money back to go towards your excalibur. Yeah, if it was off 5 degrees but 25 degrees.....well, there's a problem....it should at least be close and you haven't had it that long. The excalibur really is VERY nice.

Thanks for the response....Yeah I'm going to call them...in the meantime I guess my "cooked" flax crackers will be enjoyed by my kids and husband...

135 degrees is a little hot, but sometimes the temperatures outside where things are grown gets almost that hot in the sun! I read a story a while back where they tested various food for the enzyme activity after varying temperatures and found the enzymes were still active at almost 150 degrees! Now, I don't worry so much about the heat of my dehydrator! Paranoia is not an issue I want to deal with right now. I am just doing the best that I am able and call it good.
