I decided starting to eat sprouted grains is a better way of getting calorie dense food than eating tons of nuts resulting in me getting about 80% of my calories from fat which is dangerously high (one doctor that promotes the raw diet said raw foodists with this much fat are dropping dead like flies from heart attacks).

One recipe I'm just making for the 3rd time (just put it in the D) is Juliano's Pumpernickel rye essene bread, it has garlic and carob which is a weird mix but it tastes great. Does anyone have any suggestions of things to eat it with as it would be better than eating it by itself.

I'd also like to know of other recipes using sprouted grains and gluten free grains if possible. Thanks

I'd like to know more about the dropping like flies from heart attacks, part of your post. I haven't heard about this.

It is the 80/10/10 doctor, I think his last name is Graham, I'll have to check into it. I tried to email him about it but the email bounced back.

I'm not sure how true or valid that statement is but I remember him saying that raw foodists with around 80% calories from fat in their diet are dying of heart attacks. On the other hand one raw food bodybuilder says it's fine to eat a lot of nuts (I beleive he had 1500-2000 calories from fat out of about 3500) and that the fats in nuts reduce heart attacks, but that was compared to cooked animal fat, it doesn't mean having a lot of raw plant fat doesn't increase heart attacks.

I, too, am wondering about the dropping like flies piece.

Instead of starting another thread, I thought I would bump this as I am also looking for good grain recipes.

you can make tabouli with sprouted quinoa, cucumbers, tomatoes, parsley and mint with some olive oil and lemon juice

You can also eat sprouted quinoa like cereal with berries and nut milk

I'm sprouting lentils right now for BBQ chick-un fingers (in Alissa's book). I sprouted chickpeas for raw hummus, devine!

I love quinoa! The raw taouli is de-lish!

Hmmm... Buckwheat and quinoa are both misclassified and not really grains. I'm not sure if you want grains or just something like them?

If it's the latter, the calzone recipe in Alissa's book is very filling and is made of a large amount of sprouted buckwheat. Same for the burger buns. (It's actually nearly the same recipe.)

So, you can sprout a good amount at one time and do a variety of things with the buckwheat. I like to dehydrate it so it's crispy (with some spices, salt and oil) and either munch on it like popcorn or have it on salads.

I made the tabouli with sprouted un-dehydrated buckwheat and it was very tasty.

Eva - thanks for the ideas. I am familiar with those recipes but not too into dehydrating. That has been part of the difficulty in finding grain recipes as most are for desserts, granolas, or dehydrated...
