Hi there,
I live in Portsmouth, NH and am in beginning stages of getting my health back. Over the past 3 years I have gained a tremendous amount of weight, lost interest in many of my favorite activities and closed myself off from my friends and family. I went from being a D-I athlete to a complete sloth. I have started running in road races and going to the gym. I have not seen a dramatic loss in weight or change in my appearance and I know that it is b/c of my diet. I was a vegetarian for 10 years however 2 year ago I started incorporating Fish into my diet b/c I knew I needed protein. I am now becoming uncomfortable eating fish and would like to go back to my vegetarian ways however want to make sure I am ingesting enough protein. I am excited to learn new recipes and improve my health by de-toxing, having more control over what goes into my body and prepare my body and mind to be the best friend, partner, worker and someday a mother, that I can be.:)

Sounds like your really wanting to take charge of your health....exciting. Alissa's book talks all about getting plenty of protein on the raw food diet and believe me people will question you about protein and calcium....her book is great and you'll really have the information to help you be successfull. Get the DVD too and watch it before you read the book.

Hi!
You live in Portsmouth? I'm rather familiar with Portsmouth since I lived in northeastern Massachusetts for 19 years, so I was constantly up in southern New Hampshire (Nashua on a daily basis, LOL).
Anyway, good luck to you! :)

Hey I live in Hampton, NH and I am always at the Portsmouth Health Food Store downtown. They have a great selection of kombucha, raw agave, raw cacao, raw honey, and in the deli department they have store made "raw slaw" and an AMAZING juice bar! Also tons of raw nuts. And the most exciting news EVER is that they carry the full line of "Amy's Livin Magic" products... these absolutely delicious treats are made by a woman in Kittery. Try the chocolate hearts and the rosemary crackers! Mmmmm! The Juicery is now open on Hanover street. They have the best juice bar in the world as far as I am concerned and they also have some raw food offering on the menu.
Good luck! As you can see there are plenty of raw food options in the area! Have you checked out the farmers market on saturday mornings?
