What brand of coconut oil do you feel is the best to buy?

I get nutiva as it is raw and made from fresh coconut, not dried copra like most other oils which contaminates them with fungus and stuff like that, coconut oil must be made from fresh coconuts to be uncontaminated.

Thank you both for your input. I was able to get the above brand at my local hfs and since I can't get to the U.S. yet, I am happy with this kind. It is what I've been using for a while now. I like the taste. I called around too and got the best price. It is harder to find stuff in Canada, that's for sure! I also read some reviews on the 'net about various brands and this one was rated as being of high quality.

really? you have problems finding stuff?

have you tried letting your local health food store know that you are raw? i have... and they bring stuff in just for me (and to stock their shelves). my most recent 'gift' was jars of raw organic cocoa sauce!!! yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmy. i had some strawberries and mangos dipped in it (like a fondue) the night before i started my juice feast... it was wonderful.

i have a motto... i say it to my kids daily:

"don't ever be afraid to ask for what you want or need... cause if you don't ask, i don't have the opportunity to say yes. i may say no... but i absolutely won't say yes if you don't ask!"

I've been using Spectrum Naturals. I like that it comes in a glass jar rather than the plastic containers I had been buying before. Good to see fellow Canadians on the board!

Thanks all for your suggestions which I will keep in mind. Yes, I have asked for things. I call ahead also in order to get the best price and to save on gas. I have asked for baby coconuts which the lady happily ordered specially for me and I know I shouldn't hesitate to always ask them to stock stuff for me.
