What do you guys think of pumpkin seeds? How do they compare in fat/nutrients compared to other seeds?

I have to admit I'm enjoying them; they upset my tummy a little, but not if they're soaked and prepared properly! They do make me feel pretty sedated though. :-)

I eat them for protein. I don't really know how they compare to other seeds. I just like the taste. I prefer the taste of the plain raw ones but my health food store has quit selling those and now only sells the raw sprouted ones. I know they are better for you but to me they taste like the roasted ones and I never liked those.

I can't help in regards to their nutritional content. I just eat 'em because I like 'em. I don't soak 'em or sprout 'em or anything. I just eat 'em like they are.

Tell me do the pumpkin seeds grow tails when you sprout them?
I've never tried to do it.

Julie-
what HFS are you going to that sells only sprouted pumpkin seeds? I live in Shoreline and am wondering if I am missing anything good- I am always looking for new places to shop.

Tru Health in Bothell. Here's their website:

It is worth the trip if you can get out here. They're a small place but have a good variety of things and will special order for you when they can. Plus I find their prices are the best for most everything.

I have been to one HFC in Shoreline. I can't remember the name but it is across the street from the Family Pancake House on Highway 99. It is in a strip mall with a TJ Maxx and a Safeway. I used to shop in there all the time when I lived in that area. I like Tru Health much better.

I eat pumpkin seeds every day because we're trying to have a baby and they're loaded with zinc (super-important in the reproductive department). I need to soak/sprout them... I've just been eating them raw so far!
