View Full Version : Munching on a carrot

My dog has been raw for a while, but for some reason I don't give him things like carrots to snack on. I was juicing some carrots earlier today, and I dropped one on the floor by accident.
I didn't pick it up immediately because I wanted to finish juicing first.
I didn't get to pick it up at all, though. He found it and ate the whole thing within a few minutes. He seemed to REALLY be enjoying it too!!!
Just thought I'd share. :)

Cute!
Even before I went all raw, my darling pup has always enjoyed raw veggies! She loves carrots, lettuce, cucumbers, anything that will crunch in her mouth. Sometimes I'll sit there and eat baby carrots right from the bag, and she will whine to have some. It's adorable to see her crunching them! :D Hmm, anyone eat raw Brussels sprouts? That was one of her favorite veggies before we went raw.)
Julia and Aleesha -- You two have given me some inspiration. I juiced again today, and I mixed the pulp in with the chicken livers (ick!). He ate it all.
What a great way to use the pulp when I juice!! I usually mix green smoothie in when he eats the organs, but this is a nice change. And I can keep my green smoothies to myself. :o :p
And sheesh, Jenna! So funny! Maybe you could trick your dog into eating veggies by mixing it with food. Mwuhahahahaha. :D

Just make sure not to give them the apple core or any seeds.

Thanks for the tip! Dogs can definitely be more sensitive to things that are poisonous.

Eva, is your dog a Springer or Cocker Spaniel? He's beautiful!
Aw thanks! He's a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who had a bad haircut in those pics. Haha, he actually looks like one these days since my mom doesn't like to play with scissors.

My dogs love carrots, green peppers, cucumbers, and last night, the one begged off and ate about 1/2 celery stick from me. They will eat apples, oranges, and anything else they happen to be in the mood for. I rarely have issues with loose bowels, but the few times I have I just add canned pumpkin to a meal and it's all cleared up.
They go through phases. Will eat a whole pepper one day and then turn their noses up at it the next.
They get fresh veggies and fruit in one meal a day and nut pate (made with greens, flax, sunflower seed, oil, and garlic) in one meal a day. The second meal is much simpler and usually is just kibble and some cottage cheese. Their breakfast is the main meal of the day: veggie kibble, baked potato, grated carrot, grated apple, organic egg, cottage cheese, nut pate, olive or other oil, yeast, probiotic, food enzyme, and maybe a veggie hotdog (only occasionally).

We had a terrible time in my childhood keeping our dogs from digging up our garden to get to the carrots! (Mind, my mom also had a hard time keeping ME from doing the same! LOL). It's always been my experience that most dogs love carrots, and raw corn on the cob ^^

My dogs also like to eat the wild carrots that grow at a friend's house. They go nuts over it.

That's a cute story! Actually, my dogs don't like veggies that much but they cry and beg for apples! They also love mango (peel and all) which I found strange.
