My 6 y/o son eats the whole strawberry. He actually bites into it leaf part first. He loves any kind of leaves he can get his hands on.

I use the whole strawberry for smoothies.

That description of what strawberry leaves can help with is amazing! Thanks for sharing!

I eat the whole strawberry too. Ezekiel 47:12 "..... and the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine."

I would be careful using that quote as a basis for rhubarb...the leaves are very toxic.

I would say that, in general, using a religious text in place of a botanical guide is not a very wise idea.

when you say strawberry leaves, are you meaning the leaves that grow on the whole plant, or the green bits around the stalk on the plant, cos I never thought of using the leaves and I have millions of them, I get mostly great big green leaves and very few strawberrys on my plants, my rabbit loves the leaves but I never thought they were humanly edible, and good for you too, wow, this would be fantastic if I could use them? I wonder what esle I didnt know is edible that grows in my garden.

Cactus, I was talking about the green tops of the strawberries. Since strawberries return each year, you wouldn't want to eat the plant because then you wouldn't have the strawberries next year. I've never planted strawberries before so maybe that's not how it works but I think you just leave them in the ground to return next year.

ahh I see thats a shame cos I have so many strawberry leaves, if they were usable it wouldnt hurt the plant cos mine are so huge and once the strawberrys are gone as long as you dont dig up the roots the plants come back again next year anyway, I think I might just research that a bit, after all now I think of it I have seen strawberry leaf tea in healthfood shops so I guess its at least not poison.

the green tops on the organic strawberries... I've been buying so many strawberries lately that I kept the beautiful tops for future use in something. they are like dried herbs now.
I was hoping they would taste good blended in soup or smoothies, flax crackers, etc.

thanks for the comments. :)
