Hi. I am new here. It is not easy for me to talk about myself, but I'll say a little.:)

I have tried to go raw many many times, but I always fall off the wagon. I am a cooked food addict. I have at least 12 uncookbooks and I have tried very hard, but something or other seems to get in my way. Either I have an emotional upset (and go back to cooked food for comfort) or the recipes take too long or I just get tired of being hungry all the time or I get bored.

But I just finished Alissa's book, and I like her strategy of having lots and lots of food ready, at least until I get into the swing of it. Also, the recipes don't seem to take as much time as the ones in the other uncookbooks.

My health used to be perfect, but after many years of eating badly, I'm getting the effects now. I'm obese, my arthritis is killing me and I hardly move without pain, I'm tired all the time.

So I'm going to try again, but this time with (I hope) a support network to help me stay the course!

Hi Donna. I have read enough on this board to know that there are many here just like you and me who have gone back to SAD food often but I think I might be safe in saying if I can do this, you sure can. I view myself as very much like an alcoholic. Only my addiction is to sugar (always turn to it for emotional reasons)...until now. I really think I have made a major turn around and in only really a couple of weeks.....

What I am sure has helped me is Green Smoothies. You can read my blog to see what I've put in them. They've helped me quit coffee - I hardly ever think about it now and I am always satisfied (well, almost). I look different, have a spring in my step and am walking every day for 30 minutes. I am 62, weigh 170lbs. and want to get rid of at least 50lbs. Never give up. This works!

Thanks, everyone!

I'm a little bummed out about starting again. I did try the green smoothie thing... but I'll definitely check your blog. I'm sure I was doing it all wrong before. Maybe this time will be the charm.

How great it would be!

Oh, I forgot to give you a big welcome. Sorry about that Donna. I am in a big rush today. Lots to do. Try to keep it simple to start and do read lots on this board. Some insightful blogs to read are Starfire's and Morn's and I know there are others but I just haven't got to them yet as I am new here too.

I think of my sugar addiction as being very similar to alcoholism, too. If sugar were illegal, I would have sold my house by now to pay for my fixes. I can go a long time without it, but once I have a small amount I start to binge.

And I think cooked food might be that way for me also.

I'm going to check those sites you mentioned now.
