Interested to hear if anyone has completely healed an autoimmune disease from juice or water fasting? Specifically I am interested in healing Hashimoto's Thyroiditis (a form of thyroid disease).

I have hypothyroid.....and I've not yet "cured" myself, but my dose keeps going down....so I'm working on it!

I didn't fast but went 100% raw. I feel fasting is too radical. Too hard on the body. One goes from eating SAD/CRAP and then fasts...

Read my testimony below. I truly believe it CAN be healed by eating raw. I am living proof. I DARE a health professional to prove what I am doing is wrong or not working. Obviously the meds I was on for six years didn't do squat!

We ARE what we eat...our bodies are VERY forgiving...

I can't imagine how fasting would heal that. What you need to do is eliminate the goitrogenic foods.

goitrogenic foods really have nothing to do with it. hashimoto's is diagnosed when your immune system produces specific antibodies that attack the thyroid gland. I was looking at how to stop the production of the antibodies, if I can do that, then my thyroid will return to normal.

I don't have any first hand experience here, but I certainly did enjoy Joel Fuhrman's book on fasting. He spends a good deal of time talkingabout fastine and autoimmune diseases.:)

because the thyroid is in acute stress and not functioning as a result of being under attack from the hashimotos, goitrogenic foods are best avoided, so you don't cause further damage.

with autoimmune, there is inflammation that needs to be addressed.

i've heard of cases where a Helicobacter pylori infection was an underlying cause of Hashimotos. if you have ulcerative conditions in the upper GI tract, then green juices/raw would seem like a positive option.

i'm sorry you have to deal with this and i hope it gets resolved and you feel better!
