View Full Version : Could a food processor do what the Saladacco spiral slicer does?

All the bad reviews are making me nervous about getting the Saladacco.

Is that they say true, that it's flimsy and hard to use and doesn't do its job well, or is that only a few people out there who got duds?

I'm happy to pay as much or more for a specialty disc for my Cuisinart 14-cup food processor, or to buy a more expensive product if there is another equivalent... I'd love to hear any thoughts on this (I did a search here and found some great threads, but nothing specifically comparing the spiral slicer to a food processor with a specialty attachment). Thanks in advance! :D

I think the Saladacco is Great for what it does. In My openion you could use them both. My Food Processor does not have an attachment that does what the Sal. does. I think it is just for Ribbons etc. and it is usually under $30-.

Everytime something comes out that Slices , dices and Chops I buy it. I just like Gadgets. You can always find somewhere to purchase it that give you a 30 day guarantee. I wish you All the Best.............

I prefer to use the julienne peeler tool. Small and easy to rinse clean. I've seen them at Target and I believe Pampered Chef has one. XOXO makes one and I see that brand everywhere...even home depot!

I love this thing. Makes "pasta" with ease.

For those with a cuisinart FP, they do sell a 2x2mm julienne disc, it sounds like it's for making french fries, but it really makes spaghetti size cuts, I use it to make zucchni pasta the rare times I make that. It really looks just like regular spaghetti.

Great, thank you!!

raweater, that's exactly the size I was hoping for but just hadn't found it yet. So glad to know that size exists!!

Thank you again for the replies!

Didn't know that blade could make pasta as I have the blades, I believe all, if they are in one place. I also love gadgets.
