I just got an older model Juiceman Jr from freecycle. I was amazed at how dry the pulp was and how much juice I got from 1 apple and 9 organic baby carrots (a little over 8 oz) I am just wondering what are the benefits of juicing instead of just eating the apple and the carrots? Besides the obivious, it tasted great and was quick to eat/drink.

Benefits ~ you get more nutrients because you are juicing more fruits and/or veggies than you could possibly eat.

Negatives ~ no fiber.

For information on juicing and it's benefits, one of the first and still best books I've ever read on the matter ~ Fresh Vegetable and Fruit Juices by N. W. Walker. IF you can find it, it's usually fairly in-expensive.

what about not if you juiced it, but made a smoothie. This is a Noobie question, I'm sure, but it still has all the fiber right? and are you getting the extra nutrients still?

If you juice using a twin gear juicer it releases some of the goodness that you can not get at by either just eating or blending.
