Hi everyone:

Some questions/issues:

1) stevia -it KILLS my stomach...so when you crave something sweet what do you use...or how did you adapt to Stevia?

2) I worked out with my trainer today (1st time in months) and he asked about my diet and was in shock that i havent been eating eggs, cheese, yogurt, etc and said something like I need protein to see results with him?! I refuse to eat any of the above, any suggestions anyone? I want to lose at least 10lbs (same story Alissa shares in her book) and my trainer thinks I am deficient in caloric intake as is :( and i really try not to eat fats :(

3) Anyone have any FAST breakfast ideas...that is still a problem (cranberry juice is what I've been having)

thanks :)

Hi everyone:

Agave or, if you're not vegan, honey.

2) I worked out with my trainer today (1st time in months) and he asked about my diet and was in shock that i havent been eating eggs, cheese, yogurt, etc and said something like I need protein to see results with him?! I refuse to eat any of the above, any suggestions anyone? Why would you not eat nuts, seed and avocadoes? You're missing out on a very important part of this food program. As far as protein goes, those things you mentioned are made up of protein yet, they're hard to digest. You've got Alissa's book? Reread what she says about protein.

Protein is made up of amino acids. ALL plants have amino acids. They are more usable than what you'll get in dead animal carcasses which has to break down the protein, break it down into amino acids then turn it into usable protein. In the meantime, all that excess protein leeches the calcium from your bones.

Get your trainer "The China Study".

When I first started lifting, I ate all that stuff mentioned. After training my partner and I would go out for breakfast and have 3 egg omelettes with everything in them. No matter how much I trained ya couldn't see my muscles.

After going vegetarian (and getting a new partner), I was RIPPED! My partner was walking behind me one day and said my back was ripped and "imagine how much better you'd be if you ate animal protein." Well, if it was working all THAT great, why was he taking steroids?

3) Anyone have any FAST breakfast ideas...that is still a problem (cranberry juice is what I've been having)

Green smoothies.

Hi there! Here are my answers:

1.) I've never used stevia. I use raw agave nectar...very neutral in flavor, low on the glycemic index and can be used cup for cup in the place of sugar. Depending on what your using sweetener for, you can also use dates or date paste, honey if you're not vegan, dried apricots, raisins, etc.

2.) Most trainers believe that you need all of that animal protein. Our bodies don't assimilate it well. Get those greens in...green smoothies, green salads, etc. as well as spirulina powder in your smoothies. I believe hemp seeds are good too. Also, check out www.richardblackman.com

3.) Breakfast can be fruit, smoothies (and you can whip that up the night before and refrigerate so the next morning just grab it, shake it up and go) or really anything you like. If you plan to do or already do raw recipes, you can have leftovers of whatever you may have prepared beforehand. With raw, there isn't really "breakfast food", "lunch food" or "dinner food"...I've been known to have a slice or two of raw chocolate mousse pie for breakfast! :D I've also some mornings awakened with a STRONG craving for salad...so I'll have a salad. It can be whatever you want!

1) You can use raw honey, agave or figs for sweeteners. If the Stevia hurts your stomach, it's probly not a good choice for you. Listen to your body

2) Yes, trainers are still under the assumption that you get protein from protein. You get protein from amino acids. Sprouts, nuts, and lots of greens have protein, you can assure him you are getting plenty from these sources. My trainer is vegan and she has gotten great results! There is also a hemp protein powder that Alissa sells, great for smoothies.

3) My breakfast almost everyday is a green smoothie. It's fast, easy, filling and very versatile! Or, fruit, raw oats made into a granola, but still my fav. is green smoothies. Mine usually consists of lots of greens (spinach or romaine or a mix) bananas, strawberries or apples, hemp protein and coconut oil. Give it a whirl in the blender and you have a great b'fast!
The other things is, your body needs fats! No fat consumption will send your body signals that it isn't getting enouhg and will store it. You want good sources of fat, avocados, coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil (cold pressed), nuts in moderation. It will alsa satiate your appetite so you don't feel deprived and hungry all the time.

Hope this helps some. :)

thanks for responses. Yes my trainer scared me a little...i dont eat nuts and fats..bc i thought that would well, make me fat. I know everyone says it won't but it is hard to get past that after being heavy and slimming down (not suggesting nuts made me heavy but definetly the qty Im sure)

THanks I will try this...I saw the hemp in her store :) ANy suggestions please send my way. And yes I read her book and though it is easy reading, I am dense...or fearful to change ...that is why I am here seeking guidance.
