So, I am having some trouble here. My prom is on Saturday, and I want to have clear skin! My skin is usually fine, except for on Friday last week I figured out how to make juices with my vitamix. I was so excited that I unintentionally juice-feasted for 2.5 days. Whenever I do a fast of any sort, my skin breaks out (because of detox). It's been a day or so since I was juice-feasting, and my skin hasn't recovered yet. HELP!

I've started taking msm, and I've been eating/juicing cucumbers. Any other advice to clear up my acne, fast? I've posted pic of my face, BTW. Not sure if it will help.

I eat a lot of cacao, and I've heard that chocolate can aggravate acne. Should I cut the chocolate for a few days?

here's my advice. get to a HFS and get some castor oil. do the oil cleansing method on the thread that rawheaven started. It REALLY does work. I have NEVER had better skin. seriously. I have always had MAJOR blemishes-the kind that make people turn their head or stare in disbelief when I walk down the street. :p Try it. It won't make it worse. if you skin feels dry afterward, smear the tiniest amt of coconut oil on your hands, rub them together and then rub your face. CONTINUE with the MSM, for sure and lots of water. That should help too. Good luck my dear! you know I will be thinking of you on Sat.

Wow...prom night coming up! Congrats!

I agree with Zaphirah. I'd also add, if by fasting your face is breaking out, to me this means that the toxins are not being properly eliminated from your bowels. If you know me, you know I'm big on enemas for such a purpose, but if not, find a way that is comfortable for YOU to get the bowels cleaned out more effectively even if you think you're "going" enough.

Make sure you don't pick them or they'll leave scars!

Good suggestions here. Definitely move those bowels. I just tried the oil cleansing method too (look for the thread here) for the first time. I had two deep pimples starting, and what I noticed is that I believe the oil cleansing method brought them to a head much faster then they would've normally.

No picking though! pimples are much easier to conceal with makeup if you have not been picking. Be gentle.

Also, relax.... stress can aggravate the skin. Since you already have the pimples, I believe they will heal faster if you're happy and relaxed.

Good luck!

Great advice. I'll just add...

Cleanse and steam your pores really well...then dab some tea tree oil with a cottonball directly on the eruptions. Try to use the tea tree oil 2-3x per day. It works fast!

Take some hot epsom salt baths to help the skin on your entire body move and release toxins.

raw honey is wonderful for healing the skin and you can lick your lips if it drips on :p them

There are some great suggestions on this thread. As a quick fix, I'd recommend having a facial because qualified estheticians really know how to heal breakouts. However, that would be expensive and someone who didn't know what they were doing could aggravate your skin. You can try a good clay mask on your own. If the cucumber juice and enemas don't work by the weekend, makeup will do the trick. I wouldn't recommend covering breakouts with makeup but it's your prom and you want your skin to look good. Some green color corrector will take away the redness and a light foundation will make your skin look clearer. This may not at all be the route you want to take.

I think you look very pretty and your skin isn't bad at all. A little mascara and lip gloss and you'll be a rawsome beauty. What type of dress are you wearing? Will you post pictures? Have a wonderful time. You'll look beautiful if you feel beautiful, which you are - inside and out.

I have been reading up on the amazing power of wheatgrass, and you can put a poultice directly on the skin. Supposed to be very healing. Give that a try. Hope it clears up for you, but the best advice so far is RELAX and enjoy! :)

This post is a little late as I've been very busy, but I had a great time at the prom and I stayed raw. My face cleared up with the aid of tons of cucumber juice, water, and rest (the rest could have just been me being lazy, lol). I requested a simple, all veggie salad with lemon wedges on the side for my meal. My bf also requested a special meal as he is vegetarian and doesn't eat eggs, onions or garlic (religious reasons). He got the same thing as I did, so we were both raw at the prom  . I brought a Lara bar that I ate discretely at around 2 AM. Anyway, attached are two photos of me at the prom!
