So, my integrative M.D. diagnosed me last year with systemic candida and put me on months of nystatin and a sugar-free diet (which I was already doing).

When I became raw in January and was eating sweet fruit without symptoms I figured my candida was a thing of the past or never really existed. But at my gyn appt last week the doctor found an external candida glabrata (sp?) infection. The only other signs I think I might have of candida are that my ears itch sometimes, I get bloated easily, and I get some headaches and tiredness (who doesn't?).

OK-I just want to do the right thing diet-wise! I am scared now to plow into a pineapple or bananas. I tend to eat sweet dark green smoothies and fruit during the day with salads and a little avocado or coconut or seeds at dinner.

I would buy Dr. Cousens book but I don't really have money to waste if it's not necessary. Reviews on amazon talk about lots of nut-heavy recipes which I don't think i can digest well. Can any kind soul summarize his message about candida for me? Or tell me that I definitely need to buy it? None of his books are at my library or bookstores to peruse.

I don't know anything about Cousen's book...but I do know that I had candida, Alissa had candida, Revvell had candida and many others and we all have testified to having become rid of it simply by eating raw...period. No restrictions, no cutting out sweet fruits, or nuts...just good ole raw.

Keep this in mind...you were on meds for this a year ago. Our bodies do a thing called "retracing" where we sometimes have a condition re-visit us as the body is doing the final clearing and healing of it. When I first went raw, shortly into it I had the mother of all yeast infections as my body was clearing out traces of candida as well as traces of the meds I used to use in the past when I got my chronic yeast infections.

So, what your GYN found could have very well either been something that wasn't what they thought it was or it could have been a retracing.

I'd just stick to raw, period and allow your body to heal of this. Are you all raw?

That is very interesting, Rawkinlocs. Thank you! I have read about retracing, but I had never thought that an infection might be retracing...

I have been 100% for the few months leading up to the gyn visit. Now I had a few sips of a friend's raw milk (her cow's, not her baby's;) yesterday and I felt incredibly yucky all evening and into today. Not good for me anymore. This is quite a journey.

So you have found that you can't overdo sweet fruit?
