Hi everyone,

For some reason that's still beyond me, I've decided to try and grow wheatgrass and juice it all by myself. I'm a relatively healthy college student, but decided I wanted to see what the benefits of wheatgrass would do to my body and mind. I also hope it will benefit my dog, but I decided to experiment on myself first :-).

I've read Ann Wigmore's book, and proceeded to go online looking for the best modern methods to growing wheatgrass. So many do's and don'ts have flooded my mind since venturing online, it's a miracle my head hasn't exploded. Luckily, I stumbled upon this forum and read some of the threads by some very well-informed people, and I hope you all can help me make the right decisions in this little adventure of mine.

The main questions I have regarding wheatgrass are:

What is the best soil to use and where can I buy it?
What are the best seeds and where can I buy them?
What is the best juicer for wheatgrass?

I live in Los Angeles, and am willing to travel around California to get the right stuff from the right places. I've never grown or planted a thing in my life, and I want this experience to be perfect. I want to see the full results of wheatgrass grown the correct and proper way can do. With luck, maybe it will encourage me to grow other vegetables and fruits in the future.

Thanks for your help,
Kareem

Might want to connect with OHI (Optimum Health Institute) in San Diego. They specialize in wheatgrass. Brian Clement in Fla may chat with you as well.

Azomite and Ocean Grown are two of the best. Azomite has I think around 64 minerals and Ocean Grown has 90+. Ocean grown is sea water.

These as fertilizers will make your wheat grass super nutritious.

Excellent, so if I combine one of the two fertilizer with EKO Organic soil mix, I'm all set right? Is Ocean Grown very superior to Azomite?

Any advice on seeds? Thanks for your help so far.

Growing wheat grass is a piece of cake.

I ordered a wheat grass growing kit from www.harvestessentials.com, and it came with kelp (like azomite), seeds, soil, 4 big trays, a condensed and easy-to-understand instructions sheet and "The Wheat Grass Book" by Ann Wigmore. I think it was about $50 with shipping, but I might be a little off on that.

www.sproutpeople.com has seeds that I've gotten before, were very high quality from what I could tell.

I've gotten seeds from my local HFS that were not organic but seemed no different (and were a much lower price, available immediately).

I've gotten seeds from somewhere else too but can't think of it now without poking through my invoices.

Soil came with my first kit, and after that I've just gotten organic soil from the local garden store. Nothing specific, just organic soil.

Azomite or kelp are usually available at garden stores too.

Hope that helps. I personally found just ordering the kit to be a perfect start. :)
