Greetings All:
I am new to raw food and have yet to take my dehydrator out of the box. Tonight I am going to Borders to by AlissaÂ’s book and probably others. What I am wondering about is how everyone handles taking raw to work? I wanted to start an OJ fast but the work day just keeps getting in the way and OJ should not be juiced and stored (or so I have read). Anyway any ideas, suggestions or experiences would be great!

Thanks!
Jenny

In another forum Jinjee said if you cannot take the juice, take the oranges.

Hey There -

If you work in a juice bar, then it is feasible for you to juice as needed. I will preface this statement with " you may lose some nutritional value" by juicing and storing", but that is okay in my book to get from point a to b.
:)
I usually do my juicing at night for the next day because it is feasible for me to do so. I freeze it , and then put it in my lunch box and carry it to work. It is easy, it is done and I am free from worry.

The key to raw is to plan and have things as ready as possible so that one will not seek the non-raw stuff so readily available.

Hope this helps

I guess it depends on what you want to eat...or if you are juicing only. There are so many things that you could take with little or no effort.

Cut up veggies, dehydrated crackers/cookies, raw cheese and olives (if you include these in your diet), nuts, fresh or dried fruit, muesli and a little almond milk, raw soup.

If you have a Magic Bullet, put all of your smoothie ingredients into one of the jars and pack the unit away in a bag to take with you.

Plan ahead for the week so that you aren't scavenging for something when you're running out the door. Make enough for each dinner so that you have leftovers for the next day.

It's no different than taking any food to work, it just takes planning.

Hi Jenny,

Here is a recent thread that includes lots of posts from people describing what they take to work:

Oh -- you didn't find Alissa's book at Border's, did you? You can order it right here from her website, and, if you have a raw store in town, you can possibly buy it there. It's only available at one raw restaurant in my area and at a few raw food stores.
