:confused: HI All-

PLEase help:)/..I have a real weird problem..my armpits remain black after I shave or wax them (sorry TMI)..even when they are clean they look like they have a black shadow..how do i get rid of that..:confused:

I am middle eastern..olive skinned..
I can;t wear any sleeveless or bathing suits cus of this embarassing problem

I'm sorry, I don't know what causes it or if it's just a natural thing because of your skin tone. But I have seen this before. I know when you shave, you're not ripping out the hair from the root so there's still hair under the skin. This could result in a shadow from the top of the hair follicle under the skin, but you said you wax so that wouldn't be the issue. I hope you figure it out soon, sorry I couldn't be of help :(

You could try applying lemon juice to your underarms. It may lighten your skin there after awhile. I have really dark skin and use lemon juice as a deodorant and it even lightens my hair there (when I need to shave lol) to a slightly reddish orange color.

I have this problem, too, however I am super-pale skinned. I've done some researching this and it seems like what conventional docs think it is is a scarring of the skin tissue. Every time you shave or wax, the skin gets injured just a bit, causing this dark, overall weird appearance to the very, very tender armpit skin. I know it doesn't look like a scar, but that's the only explanation that I've ever heard for it. Most people think I'm crazy when I ask!

On a side note...I noticed when I lost weight (115 pounds) that it became much lighter.

Why can't you wear sleeveless shirts or bathing suits? It's not like you're walking around with your arms in the air! :p

If someone's suggestion helps, wonderful. If not, you wear whatever you like. I very much doubt anyone is looking at your armpits. Be your beautiful self. :)
