Hey, hi to all of you raw foodist! I am in need of a few questions and was hoping you all might be of some help. Animal rights brought me to veganism but want to get back into the raw diet. I did go raw for 2 1/2 months last year (& during that short time, have never felt better in my life) but started eating crap processed foods again. i have read the book, pH Miracle and loved it. I'm not much of a fruit eater, so my questions will be based on veggies ONLY.

1. Green drink - what kind of powder formula should i get to detox?
2. how long should i detox? (i saw some of the post on this forum that went beyond 7 days)
3. is green drink used for a meal replacement when you're not doing the detox?
4. how much wheatgrass should i drink? and should i use the wheatgrass as a meal? (wouldn't mind it cause it is my favorite!)
5. what type of supplements do you take along with your raw diet?

I have many more questions but i guess that will be a good start. If there's anything else that you all think i should know that i might not know, please include it :)

thank UUU and i'm so looking forward to your comments

Why use powder? Nothing compares to fresh, raw, leafy greens.

2. how long should i detox? (i saw some of the post on this forum that went beyond 7 days)

We're ALWAYS detoxing. If we didn't we'd be dead so, hopefully you'll continue to do so the rest of your life. :D

3. is green drink used for a meal replacement when you're not doing the detox?

What are you calling "green drink"? Green smoothies? What?

4. how much wheatgrass should i drink? and should i use the wheatgrass as a meal? (wouldn't mind it cause it is my favorite!)

If it satisfies you. Drink as much as you want. Ever hear anyone ask how much soda they should drink? How about a 44 oz. Big Gulp?

5. what type of supplements do you take along with your raw diet?

I don't take any. Real food works for me!

If you've not gotten Alissa's book and dvd's, I'd suggest you get them. They'll answer most of your questions.

Ummm, btw, this is in the "Who Are You" section? Maybe should go in another?

My best suggestion to you is to get Alissa's book and DVD.....you will really love them. They answer every question you could have about the raw and living food lifestyle and then answer questions you didn't even know that you had. The DVD also shows you how simple the food prep can be. I would definately read her book. Good Luck.

revvell, first off, I love your name! It's as pretty as you are. I'm hoping to get that skin glow that you seem to have in your posted pic.

Ok, so eating veggies is a detox in itself so I don't have to do any juice detox which makes total sense. I was under the impression that i had to do a liquid detox to begin.

I was calling the green drink a green supplement of different grasses (dehydrated?) as suggested in the pH Miracle. I do have one of those BlendTech blenders that can do just about anything so i will try green smoothies in lieu of green powder. I'm sure you all have a thread on green smoothie recipes, so I'll search and see what comes up.

I can drink as much wheatgrass as i want? VERY good cause i LOVE it! :)

I'm a true believer of raw foods to work wonders and am so fortunate to have stumbbled across this site.

sorry about posting in the wrong section, i don't know my way around the boards yet.

JACSAM - thank you for your response too! I am definately going to get the book and DVD you both suggested, it sounds like a must have!!

Thanks to both of you for taking the time to help me out :) deb

Thank you, Deb, you're very sweet. :)

That's a concern many of us have here ~ that new people will thing they HAVE to fast before going raw. Totally unnecessary.

I see. Well, sometimes dehydrated greens are not raw. I don't know about that one yet, what's great about the raw food diet as Alissa presents it is, we don't HAVE to spend money on supplements, etc. as, eating raw, we're receiving many more nutrients than we ever have since we're not cooking the life out of them.

I'm sure it'll be moved as/if Rawkinlocs feels to. No worries

Yay! i'm so excited :)
I ordered alissa cohen's book/dvd last night and can't wait to receive it! Have any of you attended the raw diet instruction class that is presented by alissa cohen or her instruction teachers? THAT looked like fun too!

One more thing! Where do i shop for my greens? i don't have a garden of my own so i'm forced to go to the grocery store (organic, of course). Do you all go to a farmers market or is Whole Foods/Henry's Market suitable?
