Winning Pie Recipe

Hi Everyone,

I am planning to enter a pie for the SimplyRaw Pie Contest here in Ottawa.

I just heard through the raw grapevine that the winning prize is a 9 tray Excalibur Dehydrator - something I've been wanting for a long time! I was at last year's event and was really impressed with all the pies. Check out www.simplyraw.ca/festival07/photos.php for some spectacular looking pies!

If anyone have suggestions for a winning pie, it would be soooo appreciated!

Man! I've been wishing for ages that we had something like the simply raw pie contest here! A little festival, a pie contest, taste testing fun.

Sigh....

No recipe suggestions though, I don't usually make pie.

I'm thinking of either a key lime pie or a cheesecake. If anyone has any great recipes for me to test out, that would be awesome!

Simplyraw is also having a Raw Dessert Contest so I just might enter both! Is anyone else going this year? Victoria Boutenko, Paul Nison, Matt Monarch, Angela Stokes are all speaking and it's totally FREE!

No recipe here, either, but maybe suggestion for one of my absolute favorites--do a 'mango mania' pie. That or chocolate mint. or chocolate and coconut. I'd definately buy something like any of those!

What ecovillage is shown in the pictures with the people doing yoga? It looks so similar to the one I used to live in.
Beautiful pies! Wow, I just want to eat them. I am really curious as to how they made them look so darn pretty, especially one with strange designs in brown and beige...wow!

Okay did anyone go through like 200 pictures in the slideshow and see the "Go Raw...Start Living" tee? I would love to buy one! That's the cutest raw shirt I've seen so far, in my opinion. Anyone know more?? :)

Hi Raene,

All the volunteers at last year's Simplyraw Festival wore those groovy "go raw, start living" shirts. Simplyraw was also selling them at their booth. A shame you don't live closer to Ottawa to volunteer, eat some pie & wear those tees! :)

It's on Sept 6 & 7, the week before Raw Spirit Festival in Sedona.

Unlike Raw Spirit, The Simplyraw festival is totally free admission!
