So weird. I hope you all don't think less of my after this post :p

Yesterday, at WFs I bought Biochem's Superior B-12, 300mcg sublingual lozenges. I put one under my tongue and it started to irritate the underside of my tongue right away. My tongue stayed like til after I went to bed.

So do you think I can just swallow it whole and get the same effect? Could it be that it's methylcobalamin-not cyanocobalamin? I know when I have taken the methyl injections, in the past, my skin burns a little for a minute afterward...

From my understanding, it will only work if you swallow it if you have adequate intrinsic factor in your stomach, if not, you will not get any effect. Instrinsic factor is a glycoprotein that is necessary to absorb vitamin B through the digestive system. Getting B shots or taking it under the tongue bypasses the need to be digested, therefore if you don't have instrinsic factor you can still get your B vitamins.

Skin irritation means you are getting too much B vitamins. If you are getting burning sensations or breakouts, take less.

My husband tried to take it the same way your describe and yes it burned him. I simply swallow it. I think there is alcohol in it and which help the absortion but burn the skin. I love this product because it works for me but i just swallow it and it is perfectely fine.

I have learned to put it a little farther back and to the side a little and it doesn't burn anymore. It only burns when I put it directly under the front of my tongue...I hope this make sense. LOL!
