Hello everyone,

So, I am 5 days at 95-99% raw and I have some questions. I've ordered Alissa's book and DVD but havent recieved it yet. (My diet is below if you'd like to take a look!)

Is it possible to eat too many leafy greens and not enough fruit? Today I stood up from a chair and got incredible dizzy and I was feeling foggy. I was hungry and I ate a banana and an avacado--I felt a little better after that.

When you make green smoothies do you put the stems in?

What can I expect in terms of detox? The first few days I was tired and groggy--today I felt very energetic, but then I started feeling very weak, and I got that dizzy spell. This made me a little nervous and I thought about eating something really unhealthy. I thought maybe something was wrong or my body needed meat or something. I also found myself getting very irritable, but at the same time having moments of elation, where I felt really good. Weird! I'm also REALLY starting to crave cooked and unhealthy foods...what can I do to curb these cravings?

I'm still drinking a very small amount of coffee everyday-about 1/2 cup, but I notice I am just not enjoying it like I normally do. Its starting to taste like poo--AND especially if I put splenda in it. It tastes bad.

I think I'm having a little bit of blurred vision--is this a normal detox symptom?

So below is what I have eaten over the past 5 days...any input or advice is GREATLY appreciated! Thank you.

No it isn't possible to eat too many... not in my opinion anyway. Your body will crave what you need! My diet changes all the time... cause I may crave Kale Salad for months then Fruit Salad for weeks... right now it's jalapenos stuffed with raw cheese LOL Who know's what tomorrow will bring! Just follow your body... it knows what it needs!

When you make green smoothies do you put the stems in?

Of course! I put all the goodness in my smoothies!!!

What can I expect in terms of detox?

Everyone is different. But yup, you'll have good days full of energy and a bright outlook and then you'll have sad days, days where you are more lethargic... but trust in the process. Your body has a LOT of sludge to let go of. Drink water and move through the detox!

I'm also REALLY starting to crave cooked and unhealthy foods...what can I do to curb these cravings?

Normal. Perfectly normal. Figure out what you are craving and find a raw recipe which tastes like it! That really helps a lot. Be sure to have some raw desserts in the freezer so you can grab something when you are craving sweets. This worked for me. I almost NEVER have sweets now.

I'm still drinking a very small amount of coffee everyday-about 1/2 cup, but I notice I am just not enjoying it like I normally do. Its starting to taste like poo--AND especially if I put splenda in it. It tastes bad.

Then stop!

I think I'm having a little bit of blurred vision--is this a normal detox symptom?

Not sure.

I'm not going to comment on your daily foods cause honestly... there's a LOT I wouldn't go near with a ten foot pole. :P

Lara bars are raw. :)

Diet Coke, however, is not.

Also, just an FYI this is a raw vegan site and Alyssa's book supports a raw vegan lifestyle. You probably won't get too much support for eating sushi here...raw fish, though raw, is not vegan :o And, the rice they use is cooked as well.

Just out of curiosity, why eat out so much? You could save some $$$ and headache to make stuff at home. You could make raw sushi (sans fish and rice) salads, etc in your own kitchen. You will find tons of recipes here, and in the book.

Good luck! :D

Hi, well my goal is 100% raw vegan, but I'm transitioning and the raw fish seems to help with the transition. I really don't want to eat raw fish because of bacteria, but it does help with the transisition. I haven't gotten Alissa's book yet--I hope I get it today. I have eaten very little rice--but that helps with the transition also. Yesterday I ate almost 100% raw vegan, except for a little coffee. Anyway, I don't make stuff at home because I'm very busy and it's just easier to eat out sometimes. This is the challenge I had with raw foods last time. But I do need some variety--eating the same thing every day can get pretty boring.

Hello,

I would just like to tell you I think you are doing very well. It is an extremely hard transition. People who have been Raw for along time still crave things some people even have slip ups. To be a diet coke drinker and a coffee drinker and be going to raw is probably very hard. Caffiene is addictive. You might want to try to replace you coffee with tea, sure it might not taste the same and green tea is something to get used to. Just make sure the water you put your tea in is not hot. Try water that is room temperture or if you have time on the weekends make sun tea.

The dizzieness is normal i have been going through it the last 3 days and I have been so out of it and grouchy. Its getting better but think of all the SAD foods as a drug (because they are). When someone tries to come off of a drug they go through withdraw. It sucks but it goes away and when it does you will feel awesome. Just keep on fighting the fight you will do great. Drink plenty of water and get lots of rest. If you body feels tired let it rest. If you want something sweet eat fruit or make a raw brownie or cake recipie. It will get better.

Hugs

oh on another note. Prepare your meals for the next day in the evening. It will be a lot easier for you. My only down time is at 9 o'clock I am at work from 8:00-6:30 and my husband has triplets so I spend a lot fo time chasing them around..lol I always make my meals for the next day late at night. I even make prepare and cut the things for my green smoothie the night before put them in the blender then stick the canister in the fridge. In the morning all I have to do is mix and go.

Your really going to enjoy Alissa's book and DVD....you'll see after watching her DVD how quick and easy it can be to do raw. You were saying that your really busy but I can make my breakfast, lunch and dinner plus snacks in 15 minutes...okay maybe 20. Of course it's fun to make some more extravigant things once in awhile but for the most part it's simply stuff for me.
