Super nose!!!

3 months full raw and having a very odd experience: I can SMELL EVERYTHING. I didn't even know my apartment building had this odd smell, which includes cigarette smoke from other apartments (I do not smoke) and that the air was so stagnant in here, until about a week ago. Then.... I couldn't sleep at night because of it. It is probably mostly psychological, as I can't believe I've been living like a second hand smoker all this time and didn't notice it, and I think about the effects on mine and my cats health, but, I really can't change my living situation due to financial reasons, so I am stuck here.

Anyway...........has anyone else had this experience?

My friends don't notice any of it, but most of them are SAD eaters.

I feel like I am pregnant, though I am CERTAIN I am not, I think it's going raw?

I'm left with a bittersweet feeling: good to know my air quality situation, but ignorance may have been bliss, at least until I can afford a better place.

I definitely have an increased sense of smell when I'm raw. Sorry about your situation. Could you fill your apartment w/ plants to help w/ the air? Best of luck!

I like the plant idea ....... if you want a place with better air quality, put it out there, write it down etc and I just bet something will open up for you.

I would buy an air purifier/ionizer like those you find at Target, at least for your bedroom (small, upright, free-standing unit). I've had mine for many years and when you replace the filter and see all the gunk you breathe in - :eek: :eek: It is absolutely worth getting!!

Grow wheat grass in decorative pots!!!
It is beautiful, purifies the air, and good for your health. I like to chew on wheat grass instead of gum. Chewing is good for your digestion :) .

Yes, my nose is so much clearer and no stuffed up stuff in there, and smells are all much more intense.

I had not been able to smell much of anything for many years, so now I am delighted to finally be able to smell many odors. I can vividly remember visiting a pet store in the late 1960's while the owner was changing out the litter from several cages. He apologized for the dreadful smells, but I had not been able to smell the ammonia he had been using! That is when I finally realized my nose was really not working well! It has only been within the past few months that I have finally been able to smell many things!

thanks everyone, good to know I'm not the ONLY one! Plants and wheat grass are a great idea, and kitty will love it too!!! a friend brought over an air purifier she had laying around and I think the filtre might need to be changed or it's too small for my apartment, but I'm not giving up on that yet. Windows are often open but unfortunatley I live on a very busy street, so it's too noisy to have them open and besides I get pollution and fresh cigarette smoke from outside (at night is better, and I do it when I can). Writing it down goal of moving onto heatlhier place is definitely going to happen, actually it's motivating me to move faster to reach my goals.

you know what's really sad though??? I had a realization today after posting this: my poor kitty has had breathing issues the last few years - he's overweight from all the crap food I fed him over the years (not knowing of course; he's now raw too) but you can really hear a wheezing from him sometimes. I didn't put two and two together as I adapted to this new understanding of my senses and air quality until now!!! breaks my heart. I need to get us out of here, but honestly doubt I'll get anything better for the price range I can afford.
