I like to put about 1/2 cup soaked cashews in my smoothies. It makes them creamy. Are there any downfalls to adding cashews to a smoothie? I want to get the greatest benefit from my green smoothies so if anyone can think of reasons no to add cashews, can you let me know?
Thank you,
Jeni

You won't be losing any of the benefits of the greens, but variety is always nice :) . Here are some other ways to make green smoothies creamy:
1. frozen bananas
2. Melted coconut oil
3. Ground flax seeds, blended in until smooth

i can't imagine a single reason why some "cashew milk" added to your smoothies would cause a problem.
ENJOY!!!!!

Thanks for the reassurance.
Rawstrength-Thanks for the suggestions on how to use other ingrediants to make my smoothies creamy. I have yet to buy and coconut oil, and am excited to try this. Today for the first time, I put an avacado in my smoothie-Yummy! Super creamy!

I don't think you'd get any downfalls, but if you're still trying to lose maybe not use so many... oh and instant cashew milk: 2 Tbsp cashew butter, 2 C water, sweetner of choice, and vanilla is super easy to make and comes in really handy...
for a more nutritious creamy addition to smoothies you could try hemp milk...
1/4 C hemp seeds, 1 1/2- 2 C water, vanilla, sweetner makes a protein and essential fatty acid creamy base for smoothies!
