does anyone here have thyroid issues?
my TSH was really high, is really high, and my doctor is putting me on some hormones, I guess this explains the unexplained weight gain, but I'm worried I won't be able to take it off like I could before...
will I still struggle with this even with raw foods?

Your hormones should come back into balance on a raw regimen. Most women have abnormal thyroid readings; the condition is ubiquitous. SAD diets cannot promote normal hormonal production. I was diagnosed as hypothyroid and briefly took a natural form of thyroid (though non-vegan). I lost a lot of weight when I went back to a raw diet but I had to mineralize first.

I agree. The best thing I think you could possibly do for this is to stay on at least a 95% raw regimen. I received the same results a few years ago (THS was high which means hypothyroidism). Thyroid issues are so common. I know that once I've been 100% raw for a while that I will not need to take my synthroid anymore :)

For me always concerned about the drug route as one problem fixed and another springs up. I always hunt for alternatives. Keep us posted. Doctors usually know one thing: drugs. Be well and encouraged!

I used to have thyroid problems. I cut out all soy and severely limited the goitrogenic foods I was eating and now no more problems. I'm off the meds.

I've been hypothyroid for years and have also been on and off of all different kinds of thyroid meds for years. Three months ago I went on synthetic T3 (the active hormone-not Synthroid)...I have been full raw for a little over a month now. I wonder how and when I will know if my thyroid has healed enough to come off the meds and have my levels retested??

my doc prescribed my synthroid, and I'm a little freaked out to take it, I agree that raw is the best way to heal myself... thanks for the reply

I just replied to your other post, but I wanted to reiterate something.
I did not lose any weight by taking thyoid medication. It wasn't until I ate all raw and living food and incuded lots of sea vegetables and green smoothies that the weight fell off. AND I mean fell off! 110 pounds in 6 months!

rawererin - you CAN heal yourself by eating raw. I am living proof. I dare anyone in the medical profession to dispute this and to (try) and prove me wrong. They can't do it.
I will never go back on medications. To me they are foreign substances and inhibit our bodies' natural healing processes, but that's me.
YOU have got to do what you feel is right. I personally would not start taking the meds, but increase my GS's and sea veggies...
