to a food that youve never had any trouble with before? I have been raw for quite a while now and I used to have loads of health issues and although most have either gone away or become much better, the one thing I still seem to struggle with is allergys and intolerances, I am a celiac and I realize that's probably for life, but I am also allergic to other things(other than gluten) one thing that has helped me get through a restricted diet,( because of all the things I'm allergic to) is cashews in all their forms to make mayo and pies etc, suddenly every time I eat anything made with them I have a terrible pain in my stomach like I used to get from other things I'm allergic to, is it possible to suddenly get ill from something youve eaten at least twice a week for over two years now?
I already have to substitute so many other things when I follow raw recipes I dont want to have to loose these as well.

Yes! At least in my case....I am gluten intolerant (not quite diagnosed as celiac) and also have known allergies to eggs, dairy, pineapple, and asparagus....so I have stayed away from those for years now. However, since going raw ( a little over one month now), I seem to have become allergic to foods that I have been eating for years...I went through a period where my throat would itch after eating tomatoes, avocados, eggplant, and now walnuts....all of these foods I have tolerated previously. All of these allergies passed or greatly subsided within a few weeks or so except walnuts and tomatoes still seem to make me itch occassionally, and now I notice that I get nauseous every time after eating avocados. I don't know why all of this started happening since going raw, but I'm hoping that it all works itself out. My diet is somewhat limited already and it seems to get more difficult every day to find things that are "safe" for me to eat. Avocados are a staple of my raw diet...I can live without the other stuff but not the avocados!
Don't know if it's relevant, but a few months ago I also developed a severe sun allergy on my face out of the blue...thankfully I figured out that taking Activated Quercetin keeps this at bay so I am able to tolerate some sun, but I still wonder why my immune system seems to have gone haywire as of late...

I have a ds who is allergic to many many things including milk, box elder trees, molds, and oranges. His dr suggests testing 1/year, every year since our bodies change so much.

I think it is possible especially if you consume to much of something. The body starts to reject it.

for the replys, being tested every year as Zaphirah said is a good idea, I guess I am just a little fed up with having to be so restrictive and inventive with the foods I can eat, but I do have to admitt that its all worth it because being raw has changed my life, at least now it is worth living, before I was so ill all the time that I just couldnt see the point,
coconutcutie.. I can relate to becoming allergic to stuff out of the blue, I had the tomato and avacado allergys but thank goodness after not eating them for a few years they passed also, as for the sun I have lupus so I avoid the sun on my skin where I can as it agravates the condition,
and docsharp, yep I kinda worked out that if you are that way inclined and eat something to much you can become allergic, but its a bit of a circle with me because I am so limited on the foods I actually can eat I end up doing that very thing, although I do try not to.

Are you eating the truely raw cashews? If not, maybe your body is just saying these aren't raw!

Our bodies become tolerant to the junk we eat. Then when we don't eat it for a while, they stop tolerating it.

Food allergies can crop up at any time and if you have them, you can get new ones. This is why it is important to vary your diet if you are prone to allergies. Eating any food on a regular basis can cause problems.
I was diagnosed with allergies to dairy, eggs and almonds at age 46. Almonds were not something I ate on a regular basis, and I hadn't noticed a problem. But after spacing out and licking a knife with almond butter on it while fixing lunch for my daughter, I realize how badly I react to them. My mouth felt like it was on fire! I had to rinse and rinse to get it all out.

Your body, if you eat too much fo something, can easily develop an allergy. I ate so much soy when I was first a vegan four years ago that I developed a very intense soy allergy, hives, digestion issues, everything...
It's almost like your body's way of saying --- everything in moderation, and give me some variety!!
