Hello,
I am planning on purchasing a Champion juicer but I want to make sure I have my appliances straight. Is this the one that can make almond butter, yogurt, pate and ice cream? Do I need a special plate for those things?

There's a great juicer comparison post that I found on here this morning and have now decided against the champion based on what others said. In the post, Revvell recommended the Green Life (aka Green Star) juicer over the champion. Personally I found this http://www.discountjuicers.com/compare2.html to be very helpful. I think I'll go with a Green Star now.

Yes, it can. The blank plate will most likely come with it. Yogurt?

Is it the blank plate that makes ice cream? Does it automatically come with it?
Right now I'm on a limited budget and I see the Champion is cheaper than the Green Star.

Yup and yup! Might want to check with whoever you're purchasing from. I got mine MANY years ago. (Sold two of them; chose the GS and now have a Samson).

I don't think the Champion makes raw almond butter due to it's high speed of operation. Even a food processor will cook nut butters to very high temperatures (way beyond cooked) just from the speed of the blades and friction.
If you want to make raw nut butters consider the green star, also consider the green star extract 33-50% more juice, saving you 33-50% money with each use, so it quickly pays back for itself whereas the Champion quickly throws 33-50% of your money down the drain with each use. The green star also makes ice cream and all those other things.
The Green Star was the obvious choice for me. If you can't afford it now, wait until you can, and maybe consider a cheap $50 juicer in the meantime.

I love the champion, and all the plates you need come with the purchase of it.
The blank plate makes all the nut butters, ice cream etc.
You can make yoghurt, soaked seeds and nuts can be put through on the blank plate and cultured at room temp.
Don't ask me about the method of culturing though, I don't have much experience with culturing foods, only drinks ;).

I love my Champion; it's a great machine. The blank plate works great for making ice cream from frozen bananas and other fruit. I haven't used a Green Star but I agree with the others about waste when making juice with the Champion. It's good with hard items like apples, carrots and cucumbers but not efficient at all with greens and I'm going to have to upgrade to another juicer soon.
