I recently read on another forum that someone used papaya as a facial by smearing the inside of the skin onto their faces, leaving it to dry and repeating the process.
Coincidentally I'd just bought some papaya to try as a facial, but would never have thought to let it dry and reapply.
So I tried it....
WOW!!!!!
I applied, let it dry, reapplied and let that dry too. The 'mask' went quite tight, but when I rinsed it off with warm water the results were amazing!
Back in my science days I read of an amazing enzyme in papaya called papain. Papain breaks down peptide bonds (i.e. it breaks down proteins) and is often used to tenderise meat as a consequence.
So what it was most likely doing on my face was eating away at all the dead skin cells. It left my face feeling amazingly smooth and soft, like all the dead skin had been stripped away!!
This method is EASILY as good, if not better, than many of the commercial face masks I've used, and the good thing about it is it's using the leftovers from a tasty fruit.
So I DEFINITELY recommend this to anyone wanting to pep up their skin and smooth away those flaky dead skin cells!
This has now become part of my weekly regime.
Thank you Jairama of rawfoodsupport and thankyou tasty papaya!
