I went to my local health food store today and asked for a smoothie with parsley, cucumber, pineapple, celery, and banana. They said they couldn't do it because it will ruin their blender.
They use the commercial vita-mix blenders. Isn't this the blender that most of you use for green smoothies?

Yep!!! http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s43/FireStar_830/laugh.gif ... how funny!
Maybe they're just afraid if they do celery tooo often it will hurt their blender... it won't of course - but I'm sure they won't listen to you!
someone should buy them a smoothie book - ahahhahah!!!

I tried to talk them into it. I told them I made the same thing in my vita-mix (I don't have one :p ) and it worked just fine but they wouldn't budge. Ah well, worth a shot.

i would send an email to vita-mix with the name and address of the shop. they'll contact them and let them know it's safe to do! they are suuuuuuper helpful!

Your smoothie combination sounds good. I have no idea why they'd say no to those ingredients....froozen fruit is much harder on your vitamix.

sorry you had a hard time-but THANKS for the breakfast idea! I'm off to make it right now-dare I- in my humble and weak Kitchen Aid Blender??? LOL!

you should tell them about the guy on youtube who destroys cell phones in his vitamix! there's a whole series of videos of this guy "blending" crazy things in his vitamix to show how strong it is! (or at least it's a vitamix like machine)
