I am about to start a 30 day Raw challenge and am interested in finding out if it is okay to chew gum. I am an avid gum chewer and it asist me in not over eating and must I say ensuring I have good breathe all throughout the day. Can I chew gum if not is there anything I can do to replace the chewing gum (and yes I brush my teeth..lol just waiting for that one) :p

Chewing gum does not insure "good breath" at all. It's like putting perfume over BO. IF you have bad breath then, it's best to get to the cause, not cover it up with an addiction.

Thanks a bunch for the link. I like the idea someone had about the dehydrated pineapple and kiwi slices.

THANKS A TON :o

You could also chew wheatgrass like gum (I know many who do...thought it's not my bag baby. Honest).

You might find also, that after eating mixing bowl size salads, that your desire to chew has already been satisfied.

As well, smoothies with a straw, that sucking action, is very satisfying in the same way that chewing gum used to be for me.

Hello,

Probably the aspartame which is in 99% of them....I can detect that taste in ANY food without even knowing it prior. ....plus my stomach gets a really weird ache to it...even from a piece of gum:(

I confess, I still chew gum occasionally. Lately I've switched to "natural" gum, and I like it. It's called "xylichew," and is made with xylitol instead of aspartame. It's not as healthy as, say, chewing parsley, but there are some times in life when you just have to spray some perfume on that BO. :p

I have found that I don't feel the need to chew gum from a physical standpoint anymore. I used to be sort of addicted to it. I think my mouth just feels cleaner on raw food than it did on the SAD junk I used to eat, so I don't feel the constant need to chew gum. Just my experience.
