I am 5'4", 122lbs, and have arthritis in my knees which has in past prevented me from doing the routine gym exercise plans.
I DON'T need to lose any more weight, I'm about right where I want to be that way.
But I need to strengthen my legs, arms, and abs. I also DON'T have a work-out buddy, so it needs to be something I can kick MYSELF in the butt to accomplish...
I used to ride mountain bike, play tennis, and walk regularly, so I am capable of achieving physical fitness through rigorous activity.
But right now I'm just desperate to get toned. :)

yoga or pilates?
I have knee problems (born w/ knee caps in the wrong place. ) so biking and running are pretty much out. I do walk about 4 miles (tho I haven't recently :o ).
Swimming, if you have access to a gym or live in Paradise year round.
Tomorrow is my 1st day on my personal 30 day "Flatten Yer Belly!" Callenge.
I am doing a 10 min ab workout in the morn and at night.

Xrays said I had arthritis in knees. A lot of pain and difficulty with mobility. I had to pull myself up stairs. Looked like I was 108 getting out of car. Knees where getting worse and worse. Came across a book "painfree" by Pete Egoscue (also has website). Did stretching exercises through them, and I can function again! OH!! No knee pain since I started this. Extra benefit..better posture!!

I found the book "Pain free : a revolutionary method for stopping chronic pain" by Peter Egoscue with Roger Gittines. published by Bantam books, c1998 at my local library and it looks like an interesting book using exercise therapy. - Thanks :)

Check out the Primal Play thread on this site. Playing is more fun than "working out" imo.

Go to GNC and get a supplement combination of MSM, Gloucosamine and Chronitin (Sp???) It is in a pill and it lubricates the joints to fight arthritis. Runners take it all the time. It is good for obese people so not to cause pain when they walk. This is good for people with spinal disc problems too.
