This problem comes around the time I start eating more fibre rish foods.
I feel this sharp tearing pain shoot up my bowel (my left side) usually before a bigger bowel movement (not a constipated one) but not always.
But it gets so externally painful that when it happens I push my feet into ground and try to raise myself, what ever is happening is very involuntary on my behalf and no position eases the pain, it only lasts 7-10 seconds. And if it was to happen whilst I’m driving I would not be able to control my drinking it’s so painful…
Any ideas on what it could be?

Hmmm....I get this too after I go the bathroom in the morning. It only lasts a few seconds, but is very painful and always originates from the same spot in my intestines....Since going raw I have been having a lot of intestinal pain, even though I have always eaten an extremely fiber-rich diet. I can't explain it...looking forward to hearing other responses for sure

I have been googling it.. And all I can get is rectal pain from constipation and tearing or colon cancer… and this is neither ( I hope).
My doc has suggested a colonoscopy and I would do it. But the local aesthetic they put you under is hideous and takes body months to get back to normal.

Just curious, what is the local anaesthetic that they use that takes months to recover from? I have heard something similar and that is why I cancelled my colonoscopy 2 years ago which was being done to detect celiac disease. Cutting out all gluten solved that problem anyway!
I had a severe enough reaction to an antibiotic (Cipro) 7 months ago which has been enough to scare me away from most medications/anaesthetics, etc. for the rest of my life, particularly those with lasting side effects or prolonged recovery periods...

Well I saw a naturopath 6months after starting university because I felt like I had chronic fatigue and I had gained about 8kg (17.6lb). she did tests and could not find anything wrong, then went over my history and it went back to me having a polio, tetnus and 3 shots of Heb A&B vaccines all within a month, though hep was monthly (compulsory for my uni degree). And then I said my dr suggested a colonoscopy she said that the aesthetic will be as bad as having all those shots at ones and my body might take a while to recover and I might gain more weight…. (my biggest fear!) so I never had my colonoscopy.

Gosh feel well and keep searching for answers. My daughter had a colonoscopy back in Sept. and was diagnosed with Crohns and IBD. She had searched for all answers before but this test helped her bunches. She's doing great now and her blood work is normal from both of these diseases.
Feel well. Please keep us posted. Never heard of your problem.

Hi Klarissa,
Since going raw I have been having intense abdominal cramping right before pooping. Yesterday every time I thought I was done,I had more cramps and I had to sit down again! Yesterday I went 5 times before work! Today was better, only twice. The pain goes away after I am done.
I had a sigmoidoscopy a few years ago and had an intense cramp when the doctor inflated the bowel at the end of the procedure. She said I had a sensitive bowel.(irritable bowel).
For me I am not used to that much fiber. I think that it will ease up over time. I also think that I am having cleansing of the bowel too. Foods with more soluble fiber, like bananas and mangoes help me. Sometimes more insoluble fiber like seeds aggravate me.
I hope this gets better for you.
Take care,
June

This is going to sound bad… but the only time I had no pain was while I was on Atkins (and not pooping) I use to like pooping… but now it’s a real ordeal

Klarissa,
I also had no pain while doing less fiber and eating meat, but was constipated. That can't be good.
I am aiming to do food combining to decrease my gas and bloating and not eat too much seeds and nuts.
I've just started this too so I am going to give it time.
Take care,
June

It’s not fair… we should be able to eat more fibre and poop after every meal without feeling pain.
I’m wondering if the pain is just air moving through the bowel??

Klarissa,
Today I pooped twice and had no pain. If I have bad combinations I get a lot of gas. :( That can be quite painful.
Are you bloated?
June
