for those of you using your oven at a very low temp for dehydrating......
can you use a TEFLEX sheet? are they mesh type plastic sheets and are they ok to use in the oven??
where can you find these??
i used to have this metal type of mesh sheet..... before i moved, when i was doing a TON of raw recipes.......
i don't have this any longer..... and need to find something to use
what about the mess... if it is some sort of mesh .... do you line something on the shelf below?
sorry for all the questions!! :o

Teflex sheets are not mesh, at least mine aren't. My dehydrator has the mesh sheet that sits on the trays and the teflex sheet is a flat sheet that goes on top of the mesh sheet. It's so you food can't go through the holes of the tray or holes of the mesh sheet.

wow... that's a great question... I dunno if I would be inclined to use the teflex sheets in an oven though. The heating elements are different than that of a dehydrator... (like my oven is propane -- so that is direct flame kinda heat coming thru....) I think that would melt the teflex sheet...
maybe use bakers paper... I know you can use that in an oven...
or maybe experiment with one and see what happens.... Its just that they are so expensive - if it doesn't work - I'd hate to waste it!!
REALLY GREAT QUESTION!

bakers paper? not sure what that is?
i am looking for something that won't make a mess..... but don't want to invest right now in dehydrator if can use my oven at a low temp.
in the past i have also used regular baking pans......
just thinking something else should probably work better, especially since what ever the recipe.... it has to be spread so thin to dehydrate properly
hmmm?
thanks for the suggestions :)

The oven, unless you've got air circulating via a fan is not really dehydrating; it's baking over low heat. Another word for baker's paper would be parchment. Can possibly find it at most chain grocery stores, maybe Smart & Final?
I wouldn't use Teflex in the oven either.
