so what' a girl to do if she's frugal with her bling and wants to toss herself back into the raw food lifestyle? If I had endless quantities of money, now would be a great time to go for some kind of all raw spa retreat. But...until I become a wealthy a writer (ha!)...? Any suggestions?

Is there a retreat on the west coast where I can meet fun people and eat good food, and not pay too much? Just wondering.:)

Hey Revvell,

Gosh, it depends on how far I'd have to travel and how long it was. If it was an amazing opportunity that I think would shift my energy substantially, I'd be able to convince myself to spend more. With that possibility in mind I think I could scrape together about 400-500 bux. That said, Ive never been to a retreat, and I rarely travel so this amount seems quite extravagant to me.

Maybe I could just pay starfire to come crash on her couch in Hawaii?! :p

There's the Health Institute in Lemon Grove near San Diego. It is not a Spa. Usually one goes there when they are seeking cures for Illness. But you do learn the Basic of RAW. I don't know how Cheap it is now. I went there in the 70s when it was Cheap and I learned SO much that I can Glean upon now.

It sounds like a GREAT Business Venture to Start. I just don't want to WORK that HARD. I want to JUMP on everything but then I think of the WORK and Dedication things take and I calm down.

I would do a "SEARCH" or "GOOGLE" it, you'd be surprised at what you might find...

And if ALL else fails.....YEA 400 or $500. will get you a Ticket to STARFIRE and you can camp out on her Couch. Do you think she will GO FOR IT??? Have a RAW Day.

O.k. then, check out a weekend at Wyn and Cynthia's "TheRawRetreat.com". They're down here in Ojai. I don't know what Storm and Jinjee have going for retreats right now but you can check with them at "TheGardenDiet.com".

I don't know of any up your way right now to save on the travel.

Maybe you could wait for the Raw Spirit Festival... save a few more $$$ and find others who you could possibly share a room with?

Check trains as well as planes for schedules/cost.

Then of course, there's always StarFire in Hawaii. :D

HEY ARE YOU GETTING A $TIMULUS CHECK???

If so do a shut in retreat in a cabin somewhere. Take all the RAW goodies you need for the week. Stay unplugged ( TV/ CEll Phone. Laptop). Take a journal and some mood music, and a few RAW books.

Hike, journal do yoga, cry, cry some more, eat health RAW foods. Juice, fast cry, LAugh, laugh a lot more. Walk around naked. Swim naked. SING, sing out loud, eat and laugh some more.

Come home loving you more than ever. Empowered and rejuvenated!!!

Even if not getting an S-check; if you've got $400-$500 to circulate, this would be a GREAT idea! I wanna do it!!!!

I have a suggestion. Find a LONG-TERM, happy raw food person and contact them via e-mail or phone about coming to their area and studying with them for a week or more. That person, I'm sure, will either provide accomodations or recommend an inexpensive way to camp or otherwise find an economical place to stay. Then you can speak and train with that person for the time that they make available to you. I do something very similar to this at my retreat in Central Florida....working with individuals and couples....and later I will work with larger groups....when I have guest accomodations available. In the mean time, you can always contact me via my website at www.rawfoodfarm.com. Hope this is helpful.

Starfire, that sounds like such an AMAZING idea!! I want to do a lot of camping this summer, but I never thought of combining it with a "retreat" like focus... I mean, that is the intention behind camping usually subconsciously, but when I pack for them now, I will have much more dedicated attention in what I pack and do, in order to ensure I am getting the effect and focus that I want... Awesome.

You know you're a popular poster when people talk about you on a thread you haven't even been to! Poor starfire's going to answer her door next week and find a lot of pale rawbies with suitcases sizing up her couch over her shoulder. hehee...

Thanks for all the wonderful ideas folks. I am checking them all out. Have any of you heard of "cedar springs" in sedro wooley washington? Although, something tropical sounds appealing right now.

I actually did this a few years ago. In fact, it's when I recommitted to eating a mostly raw diet. Mine was a little expensive, but I thought myself very blessed in finding a 2-story Victorian house that rented out at $75 per night in a little Mississippi river town (in Missouri) and went away by myself for 9 days. Bible, books, notebook, music and lots of raw food. I really lucked out when I saw the house had a piano and nothing feeds my spirit more. I walked, went to antique and craft shops. I fasted a couple of days. It was in February and I still recall the morning that I sat there reading my Bible with a fire going and watching big snowflakes coming down.

I sought out the time alone because I instinctively knew I needed it and I still feel the deep impact it had on me. And lucky me, my husband joined me the last weekend and it just happened to be Valentine's Day. Happy, happy, happy.

course. It's somewhere in California. The fellow shows you what you can eat in the woods. Then go to the cabin and don't even bring food. Wander around and find you own food!
