bok choy update..
I made a GS with a whole cuke, a stalk of bok choy, handful of parsley, a frozen banana and water.

Not bad at all. Made about a quart.

Actually, I was wondering if I was eating enough. On a SAD diet I ate a ton more. I eat more if I get hungry or a craving, so I figure I'm doing ok.

Hi Pinkrosebud,

I too am eating alot of food or so it seems/feels like. I have been eating more on Raw then I ever did on SAD. I don't know if this is just transitional for me or not. I am not losing either and want to. I don't have alot to lose so, I"m not panicking but, until or unless I get my portions in control I don't know if I will lose any weight. But, I am proud that I am 100% Raw still :p

[QUOTE=pinkrosebud;417716] I too eat a lot of food, and after looking at everyone's posts I am worried that I am way over doing it, especially considering my symptoms and inability to lose weight.

TODAY:

B: Green Tea w/lemon-honey
L: 32 oz GS: Spinach, Frozen Banana's, Frozen Strawberries, Apple Juice, Cacao Nibs, Cacao Powder, Maca, Acai Powder, Vitamineral Green
"Sipped on this all day"
S: Nuts, Apple, Watermelon

I would like to shrink my stomach and stop the urge to eat all the time. Any tips?

Happy Friday! :) I'm starting out my day with cucumber juice, and then will have fruit and a smoothie later this morning. I have been filling up on nuts the last few days and today seems as if it will be a lighter day for me. I'm planning on a salad for lunch and then more fruit this afternoon.

Hope everyone has a great day!

This is just day two for me so I hope it's ok to post here! I'm still excited and made it through my first day with just episodes of small temptation but I stayed the course.

I have been experiencing some headaches and this weird sensation in my spinal area, but other than that it's going good. I bought myself some b12 supplements yesterday and I'm wondering if that's ok because I found out that I'm very deficient. Before my raw start I had a lot of numbing in my toes so I thought this might be good to get some of the nutrients in my system.

So far I've had a grapefruit for breakfast but I hear mangoes calling my name so I'll have some of those too...

I love the way my body feels since I started two weeks ago at 70% I've only had one day that I felt sluggish and woke up with a headache, but again it didn't last long. I think it's just detox. So glad I read about that before I started or it may have freaked me out. I'm so excited! Really I don't know when I've been so excited!

how do you make the unrefried beans? I have lots of beans here at home and well honestly I'm not sure what to do with them. I've been told to sprout them but I'm not sure about eating a lot of sprouts right now. Just wondering what else I could do with them. They are great for protein, right?

Well, I'm staying 100% Raw but, I am eating more then I normally do. Maybe I"'m overcompensating for not eating SAD and I've gained  only a pound but, still..................
Does anyone know if you need to do portion control along with Raw in order to drop?
Any experiences I would love to hear.
I'm going to try to do that today.

Hi all. Having some health issues (non-raw related), but still staying the raw course.

Jenifae - I had the same problems as you that I gained a bit of weight when I would first start raw. A lot of it was cos I was eating so much due to craving cooked food. Eventually, those cravings die down and then you won't be eating as much and your weight will normalize. For me it is a tough transition to go raw, so I try not to worry about the weight gain and then seems to work themselves out once you stay the course.

Good luck to everyone!

Today is going much better than yesterday. Will not post the slip-up.
So far today a banana for breakfast
sprouted raisin bread
guac and pico on what I will call a corn patty
and just some pico de gall on another corn patty
Supper will be some "cheese" I made to go on my sandwich sprouted bread that I made.

Hoping for a great weekend with plenty of sunshine!!

Hey Guys!!

I'm back from my trip, and I stayed raw the whole time, no problem. We even got stranded in the Atlanta airport on the way home, and I still had plenty of food and was fine.

Here were some unexpected bonuses: 1. Since I always had food with me, I could eat whenever I was hungry, and didn't have to worry when we didn't have time to stop for a meal (happened a couple of times because of travel stuff, and if I'd been eating SAD I would have thrown a hungry temper tantrum!).
2. I only got about 2 hours of sleep each night because of, well, it's a long story, but I still had the energy to get through each day and I had the concentration to get a lot out of the conference. Granted, I was completely exhausted and that sucked, but if it weren't for that steady raw energy, I never would have made it. I even went running for half an hour one of the mornings! Raw is amazing.
3. Before, when I would get really tired, all I would want was old SAD/junk comfort foods. This trip, all I wanted was light fruit or some of my kale chips. SAD foods sounded gross. That's progress baby!!

Food today has been weird, as my stomach is still not that anxious for food (when I'm sleep deprived my appetite plummets and I feel kind of queasy all the time). Anyway, breakfast was a banana, then a hard workout class, then some grapes, a few almonds, two chai raweos, carrots with zucchini hummus. I can't wait for tomorrow, when I can get back to green smoothies!!

So far today a GS, this is what I plan on taking to work tonight:
GS, apple, grapefruit, banana-strawberry ice cream, large green salad w/ avo, carrot pecan burger w/ curry sauce, probably a fudge ball or two, too, oh yeah, I'll probably take almonds, too
Before work I'll probably have a banana w/ almond butter

Had to attend a Student Ambassador lunch today. I ordered a salad with lemon juice, vinegar and a smidgeon of oil for topping. It had some non-raw cheese sprinkled on top but not enough to effect me, though I did take off the croutons.

All in all, nasty! *laughs* I prefer my HOMEMADE food, thank you very much! Though it was interesting listening to all the other girls discussing health issues and then ordering massive burger and fries meals... SAD food to the MAX!!

At one point, one girl said "You look so healthy, Martha" and I said "I'm a raw food vegan" and got to talk about the diet a bit but all in all, poor reception. Most of them gave me "You are a loser" looks, which only made me feel happier that I'm NOT running with the pack anymore! ;)

I look forward to long life, health, wealth and happiness....

Starting today. :D

It's possible to overeat on raw. ;)

I came home, feeling a bit mentally starved from that crappy salad, and fixed myself a banana/cashew/medjool date smoothie.

After gulping that down (it really satisfied my dessert cravings!!!), I then made a dinner-lunch of a big raw cracker, some cherry tomatos, half an acovado, and a few 1x1" slices of raw cheese.

I'm SO stuffed right now!!!

I will bring a banana or apple or some raisins tonite for between shows, but otherwise I'm sure I'll survive a few hours of work without really needing too much more food. *Laughs*

Now, time for a nap. Despite my zany new energy level, I'm still suffering from only 3 hrs of sleep last nite! :D But I made some good progress on my end term papers!!

Lots of energy today!!! I had green juice (16 oz)which consisted of spinach and watermelon. My girls even drank a glass or two.

Some chocolate ganache to help with the craving, which I might add a almost nonexistant. However, now I have to make some more since my son asked if he could snack on it and I thought it was his choc./avo pudding (raw of course, and I told him he could and he devoured it!!!

Dinner a large salad and I mean large. You know the serving bowls that you would put side dish in???.... Well, that was my salald bowl. I do have to say that I am still full.

Today I had the rich cheddar cheese sauce with celery. Ate 1/2 stalk of celery. That was breakfast and lunch. I wasn't really hungry till real late today. I did drink lots of water and after the celery had the choco/banana shake that the recipe was given out on this challenge. For dinner we went to Ruby Tuesdays, I made 3-4 trips to the salad bar. Left very stuffed and no craving. That progress for me!!!:D

Today was not the best day. I've done good until today. It wasn't a horrible day but, I did have two slips.

B: Green Tea w/lemon & honey and Banana
L: Spinach Salad w/red cabbage, broccoli, califlower, cherry tomatoe kidney & garbonza beans, sunflower seeds, beets, vinegarette & couple bites of fruit: strawberry, melon 2 bits, pineapple 2 bits
S: Handful of my own Trail mix Nuts & bowl of watermelon
S: some more bites of watermelon, honeydew, grapes, & pineapple

Still feels like I"m eating all the time.

Hello, everyone!
I successfully juice feasted on Thursday and got to 7:30 pm on Friday with the MC. I used to be severly hypoglycemic, but since going raw my condition has greatly improved, except when I try to MC. So I think from here on out I will be juice feasting instead of MC. But I broke my fast well, with just some coconut h2o and the meat of a young coconut and went to bed. I felt so awful on Friday that I could not excercise, despite going to the gym. I tried but had to leave with in 10 minutes because I thought I was going to pass out. Then this morning I was not hungery so I had a MC drink and went to the gym to go spinning. Came home had some greens and orange juice then a big salad with no fat for a late lunch. The best part about this is that I got on the scale this morning at 7:30 am and was at 147.4 YEAH YEAH YEAH!!!!! I have finally broke my 150 platue. I was 151.0 on May 4th and now I am at 147.4. I am so happy to finally be losing again after 5 months of being stalled between 150-154. My weight loss has motivated me to stay low fat raw and keep my portions small, at least for today, but I am feeling successful for the first time in a long time.

Haven't posted in a while. My internet connection was out, but I'm back.

Today I've had:
- Mango slices
- green smoothie
- water
- prunes

My day isn't over yet, so I may yet snack on some more fruit or something. I'm learning how to just eat to satisfy hunger rather than always trying to satisfy my taste buds. So the menu can get a little boring at times.

I'm planning on making some dehydrated snacks for the upcoming week. Green smoothies are good, but I need some savory variety.

good morning all!

"Fresh, organic, nutrient-dense, and enzyme-rich raw foods can really boost anyone's self-confidence due to the dramatic physical improvements they bring about. And it's a different kind of self-confidence too, the one that feels honest in your bones because you know you didn't cheat. You jacked up your score in the attractiveness meter with discipline, proper knowledge, diligence, perseverance, and natural, nutrient-rich food, not with toxic chemical injections or cosmetic incisions, the a-little-more-here and a-little-less-there kind of artificial procedures. But the mind-blowing thing about the raw diet is that you will look as if you had a face lift or a tummy tuck. Go search the internet for before and after raw transformations for proof."---Charmaine D. Mercado

I used this quote on my blog yesterday and thought you may want to see it since it is a boost to the "raw way."

Doing well and plan to continue doing so. Rawk on!

bfast: green smoothie
lunch: mango
dinner: big green salad with tomatoes, cukes, green onion (which grows wild in my yard), mushrooms and olives. Dressing was creamy dill with pine nuts.

Jenifae: tea isn't raw.

Nevertheless, I do drink it on occasion (hmm, I guess that makes me a bit less than 100%). Typically I will drink it if I'm feeling very cold, as I live in an old, drafty house here in the Northeast and we've turned off the heat for the season. Other times I just sip on a cup of boiled water and get the same warming effect, basking in the steam. It always warms me right up.

Sounds like everyone's doing great!

I think I need to adjust my color scheme. My hands are a tiny bit yellowy/orangey. No wonder: lots of papaya, mango, tomato, orange peppers, tangerines, carrots, ton of oranges (I may be OD-ing on oranges but they FEEL so good). :p

I continue to feel far more upbeat overall than my usual gloomy self! :D Raw has been SO GOOD to me so far!

I went 100% yesterday.

Started my morning out with a banana/raw cashews/medjool dates smoothie... ran out of raw almonds, hence the cashews. *laughs* Not AS yumm as the other recipe, but perfectly fine way to start my day!

We shall see about lunch... I am plotting a raw sandwich but will need to take a walk up the street to get an avocado for that... so I might just chop some tomatoes and cucumbers into a sheet of nori and munch on that, instead. :D

I'm so excited! Is it okay for me just to jump in here?

This is the first time I'm doing this diet and I am so excited, though already a bit nauseous. I've been eating terribly lately, but I dreamed all last night about eating raw and today I've had cherry tomatoes, baby carrots, and water so far ... and no temptation to drink the coffee sitting in the office!

I don't know what challenges to expect, but I'm kind of an all-or-nothing gal and if I weren't 100% raw I'd be too tempted to eat the bane of my existence ever since starting dieting: FAKE SUGAR. So I have to be 100% or that will be the first area in which I'll slip. I don't think I'll miss it, really. It doesn't taste any good. It was just a crutch that I used while counting calories - - - -

Thanks for listening.

Mollie - EAT LOTS OF RAW FOOD. No, I'm serious. A few cherry tomatoes and carrots is NOT enough when your body is still transitioning out of SAD, cooked, icky food into delicious, wholesome, fresh RAW food. :D

So, DO NOT think you have to just eat a little bit here and there to be raw. In the beginning at least, raw fooders need to eat ALOT.

I'm sharing this because the first time I tried raw I was, like you, really really excited. But I didn't eat enough and started feeling starved and succumbed to SAD food again.

THIS time I've been raw for over two weeks now and I feel FULL, healthy and completely happy!!! And despite how much food I appear to be eating everyday, my jeans are loose!!!

Hello to all! I've not been a good poster lately. Life's been rather hectic. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, though. YEA! :D

Today's menu was:
Romaine salad with balsamic vinaigrette and avo
cashews, cacao nibs and agave (x2  )
grated beet salad with mustard vinaigrette

I've really been wanting some green lemonade - may make a big ole glass of that in the a.m. :) Good nite and happy rawness to everybody.

I have had a hard time since, right before Mother's Day. Been a little off for a week and don't know if I can re-commit. Can we do that? If so, I would like to recommitt myself to 100%. I feel and sleep much better at 100%. Even though I seem to still be eating more then I did when I wasn't raw. I'm not sure if that is emotional/mental - thinking I can eat more because, it's raw ;) or if I'm needing to increase certain foods while eliminating others.

Any experiences?

Hi rawforthesoul,
I marinated the asparagus in a tiny bit of sesame oil, garlic and really pure balsamic vinegar, it was too die for. The sesame oil is not raw, but I used perhaps 1/8 th of a teaspoon for about 2 lbs of asparagus. The balsamic I use is out of this world, it is Delizia brand aged over 5 years. If you are oppossed to using balsamic use apple cider vinegar with a little agave, this works well too.

I'm in Washington state and I LOVE AVOCADOS, quite frankly, if my metabolism let me I would about 10 a day, but that is not the case so I have to limit myself to about 2 a week:mad:
Today is great, really warm here in Olympia about 87 degrees. Started the day with 2 liters lemon water, 1 hr. of spinning. 45 min of really annoying cardio kick boxing class and food so far is:
B- Quart of green juice with grapefruit, orange, lemon, collards, chard and celery
L- Nice green salad with lots of goodies (really low fat), and 1 small banana with some choc sauce, raisins and 1/2 tsp of cashew butter
S- Few bites of mango strawberry pudding with chia seeds
D-? Thinking lettuce wraps with raw baba ganoush, zuccinni hummus, or a tomatoe sauce and cucumbers, tomatoes and sundried tomatoes
Weight at 7:30 am was 147.8
Didn't lose this week, but didn't fast either, so I may have actually lost weight with out knowing it because last week I was 147.4 after a two day fast:rolleyes: goal for next week is 145.0 We will see. Cheers everyone.

I created some new recipes lately and they are soo yummy. Yesterday I made mango, strawberry, chia seed pudding. It was dried mango, (trying to use it up and not buy anymore for a while), strawberries, 2 dates, vanilla and soaked chia seeds. Let sit and oh my God it was yummy. Then this morning I was inspired to make flax crackers and granola, because my sweety bought me some raw crackers and granola and they were soooo expensive. So the granola was kinda of everything I had in the house lol. But the base was flax, chia, sprouted and deydrated buckwheat, orange juice, and some fruit, pee pollen, and dulse. The bee pollen gave it a slightly off flavor, which bummed me out because it was perfect before I added it. But oh well! Then I made some flax coconut curry crackers that are to live for, or at least the batter was. Everything is in the dehydrator, so I will let you know how it turns out. Last night I had a big dinner (mediteranean inspired), and desert and what do you know I was up 1/2lb this morning:mad:. Since it is Sunday I will set some new goals for the week. No dried mango is the number one goal I have, and then a close second is to not eat anything after dinner, including fruit, and lastly juice feast on Thursday.
I have eaten a lot for breakfast, and kept snacking on my recipes, so dinner should be a big green salad and maybe a green smoothy or juice. I will check back later to record all my food for the day. Cheers!

i'm rawkin' and humbled at the bounty of this earth by a loving Heavenly Father.

"Food is a love note from God. Its letters are written by the rays of the sun. It says I love you and I shall take care of you and sustain you with the offerings of my earth. If we take time to read the love letter, by chewing carefully and feeling the messages that are stored in food by the sun, earth, wind, water, and even by those who have grown, harvested, and prepared the food, its assimilation takes on a whole new meaning. This is a specific way of receiving God's grace, a holy sacrament to be experienced slowly, carefully, and consciously." ---Gabriel Cousens, M.D.

I'm still going STRONG... STRONGER, in fact. I've begun to crave ONLY the simple, mono foods... nothing makes me smile bigger than a great big fresh salad smothered in raw toppings.

I made a big blender full of strawberry/banana icecream to treat myself all day. :D I LOVE that stuff...!! Understand, I NEVER got to enjoy icecream as a child, because I'm severaly lactose intolerant and it would make me ill. So THIS raw icecream is AMAZING. :D

Right now I'm munching on my long-time favorite lunch (I get in ruts that I love ;) ) of sliced avocado, chopped tomato, raw crackers misted with Braggs, and sliced cucumber all sprinkled with sea salt.

MUCH THANKS to the individual who informed me my numerous headaches were probably from dehydration... I've been upping my water and downing my salt intake and it's really helped! Day Two of being headache free. :D

Anyway, I have not posted in a couple of days because life is crazy right now, but am still raw, except I did eat eat some non raw olives and a non raw pickle, but so far today I have eaten a lot of fat, and am hoping to not get get hungery later in the day because I have eaten to much as is here is my food for the day thus far:
B- GS with one mango and one banana
L- Spinach salad with one tomatoe and dried tomatoes, young coconut and raw bar (this was a fattening lunch)
S-Raw chocolate banana ice cream with tahini and honey on top (so yummy, but high fat), a few tastes of curry flax crackers.
D- Some more flax crackers and 1 date log.
Yikes it is not even 5 pm. and I have yet to exercise, and my back is out:( I definatly think lemon water for the rest of the day is in order. But I have not broken down and bought any dried mango, but it has been a real struggle. Hope everyone is having a rawdious day. Cheers. Rosebud
P.s. ate fruit after dinner on Monday, no exercise today. Goodnight.

LOL ~ re: woke up awake ! I , on the other hand went to bed really late ( night time energy through the roof ) and then woke up later than ever ! So, I had to run out of the house ( after throwing on some clothes:p ) and was late for work ! Missing my GS as no time but have watermelon, an orange and papaya salad ...Tonight who knows. I am making the " almost sort like Ritz crackers " and banana fruit leather...it's dehydrating as I type.
Have a great day everyone !

I'm drinking my GS. I made a really big one.

I decided to make chocolate fondue that I got off a website and I have a bunch of strawberries to dip in it so when the kids get home from school we'll have a fondue party.

Last night at a work dinner meeting everyone at my table had cheesecake for dessert. Cheesecake was my absolute favorite!!! I wasn't too terribly tempted but I'm making the "just like cheesecake" recipe that I got off this website. I haven't tried it yet. I need some more cashews to start it but I'm looking forward to trying it. I'll make sure to save the chocolate sauce to top it off, yum!

This is inspired by those who eat raw dessert for breakfast. I'm breaking out of my dessert only for dessert. Anyway, just nice to do something fun and
different today. Best wishes to everyone!

Life is amazing. RAW IS AWESOME!!!

Staying strong...!! Went to dinner last nite and feasted on a SCRUMPTIOUS raw salad. My newly raw man, John, had the same. We both proceeded to walk for a couple miles and stare at the moon all nite, all hyped up on RAW FOOD. :D:D

I love raw!!!

Hello everyone!

I have done little experiments of being raw here and there for a couple days. Now I am ready to take on the 30-day challenge!

I was going to wait until after the Memorial Day holiday...but I decided why wait? I am not going to put off my life, health, and dreams for one more day!

Here we go today is Day 1!

So far so good...

I've decided to starve myself today....

(JUST KIDDING!!! :D)

I'll start my day out with a smoothie and probably have some raw sandwiches or a raw bar before dress rehearsal this afternoon. Tonite, I'll make or buy a green salad for between shows. Should be an interesting day.... the wind is making it impossible to do outdoor shows with much success, though. :(

Hi Ladies
i have taken too many trips tp grocery store this week,
but I'm learning
The stuffed portebellas have been going over well
I took them to Women's Forum today (we are currently reading over a Joyce Meyer Fav, Battlefield of the Mind)
and they loved the Stuffed portebella - the quickest recipe to whip up
I'm going to continue to sneak Raw food on them
and when I have my fitness bootcamp this July
I'll tell them about the food they already said they enjoyed :)

I'm also past the 30 days mark, but I'm just going to keep on going. I also want to strive for TOTAL 100% for the June Challenge!!!

Had a delicious really-raw cashew (homegrown in Patagonia)/medjool/banana smoothie for breakfast and a 100% raw bar.

Headed to work in 30 minutes... no lunch breaks at this spot so I'm going to grab some "to-go" raw stuff at the Co-op on my way over. A couple bars, likely, and a banana or two. I can eat "healthy" raw food for dinner tonite when I'm done with the shows. :D

I had a lovely green smoothie with wheatgrass juice, chard, banana, pineapple, a couple fo-ti capsules and ground flax. What a wonderful breakfast! :)

For lunch, who knows? I did just get Carmella's "Best of the Sunny Raw Kitchen" ebook, so I might be making one of her yummy soups. They all look so good!
