Has anyone tried the raw revolution raw food bars? Does anyone know the credibility of the company? They say they are 100% raw, but I didn't know if anyone knew otherwise. Thanks!!

I've tried them. For what they are, they're good, but I find I can't really stand pre-made, prepackaged raw stuff anymore. It just tastes stale & kind of lifeless. I make my own bars & stuff now. I used to live for those raw revolution bars, though. I read the ingredients & went by that & how I felt when I ate them. I never had a problem with them other than the afforementioned lack of freshness feeling I get from any prepackaged raw stuff these days. If they were all I had access to & I was hungry enough to bother eating, I wouldn't hesitate to eat one. :) Hope this helps!

RAWvolution is a VERY reliable company... the bars are raw and I've enjoyed them myself - excellent when you are traveling...but like the post above... I prefer to make mine fresh... ends up being so much less expensive... AND so much fresher and delicious too! Yummmm!! :D

I saw these at Whole Foods last night...I read the ingredients and "Brown Rice Protein" was listed...Is this a raw ingredient? My inclination is NO, but can anyone tell me if it is and if I am wrong? I purchased a supposedly raw bar last week called "PURE" but brown rice protein is listed as well and I'm wondering if the cocoa is raw as well...I haven't eaten it since I don't want to break the healthy spell that I have going on here. For the record, the label does say "raw", but I think that they could be referring to the fact the final "bar" product isn't cooked...

I like the Lara bars. They are the only one's I buy.

the raspberry flavor is only 90% raw
but the cashew agave was written 100% raw
I'm sorry I'm not more of a help. All I know was what's written on it (I read the 90% raw sign only after eating it, I had assumed it was raw because of the name)
I agree with anastasia, I was shocked to find what I used to love so much to taste so...lifeless now, almost as if it's not raw
But I still always keep one in the bag for emergencys, nothing beats the convenience :)

I was wondering about brown rice protein myself hmmmmm

I got the PURE bar the other day (it's twice more expensive than larabar here!) and was not happy. was it the rice protein that added such a strange flavor? i still buy Larabars..

naturalnews.com was recommending some new brand- i think they're simply called Raw bars? don't remember. but i wanted to try one of those

Yoga Bars are 100% raw and taste really, really good. Unfortunately I haven't seen them available in too many places...

I've been buying Organic Food Bar. That's the official name, get 'em at the Whole Foods. They vary from 100% raw to 80%. The 80% raw has approx. 22 grams of protien, so that (for me) makes up for the fact that it isn't 100%.

The Omega-3 Flax, Cranberry, and Blueberry are all 100% raw, or at least claim to be.

Never tried the Revolution Bar.

Thanks for the help everyone! I agree with what you guys said about liking the fresh foods better, and not feeling the same vibrant energy when eating the pre-packaged raw bars. I don't eat the pre-packaged foods very often, but I do like to keep a convenient snack in my purse and baby-sitting bag for 'emergencies'. I'll have to look at the Yoga bar and the Organic Food bar too.
Thanks again!

Waiting on my dehydrator and ready to make some of my own bars like others to keep the freshness to them and to "know" what is in them. Although, in a pinch I have had the Raw Orgainc bars.

When I make my own bars I rarely use a dehydrator if ever. I use dried fruits & nuts & blend in whatever else I'll be putting in there (like cacao powder) & grind away in the food processor until all is well blended then press into a pan or flatten onto a plate & put it in the fridgie. Once everything's gotten cold, I use a pizza cutter or large knife to cut it into bar or nugget sizes & go! If it's too sticky, I lightly dust them in either cacao powder or coconut flakes. That's it! Yummy, fresh raw snack bars & no dehydrator needed! :p

What are some of your favorite recipes for home-made bars?

I don't have any favorites. I just use whatever dried fruits I have on hand since using fresh fruits in the mix will require the use of the dehydrator. Whatever sounds good at the moment is what gets tossed in the food processor & subsequently formed into a bar along with chopped nuts &/or seeds. Nothing too fancy! :D

I've tried Raw Revolution bars before. Blech! I think they taste pretty gross.
Also, they are only about 80% raw. The chocolate flavors used cooked cocoa.
But to each his own.
