You mean Sydney Australia?
Haha! You're kidding right?
We have NO raw restaurants here in Australia at all!
We are lucky to have some restaurants in a couple of major cities that serve a few raw dishes, but even then they don't have that many, and the one in Melbourne that does either uses maple syrup in their raw cake (not raw) or honey (maybe raw, probably not but not vegan).
If you know of any places ANYWHERE in Aust that have a good selection of raw dishes then LET US KNOW! I'd travel anywhere in Australia for a raw meal out! :D

awww i was hoping there was something out there

Yep, trillions of takeaway places selling food that makes us sick but no raw places :(.
But you know what? It's cool, we can be the first wave to start asking health food cafes and restaurants to try out raw foods!
Everywhere I go now, if it at all comes up in conversation, or I can make it, I mention raw foods and raw food products.
I've helped to get raw cacao powder, nibs, cocoa butter and maca into several health food stores here in Melbourne, talked to many places about the raw food movement and how big it is overseas AND how it wont be long till it's big here in Australia. I've also given out lists of helpful raw recipe websites (including RFT) to many of my favourite food places.
And another thing that is helpful, I've talked up raw foods to many people who are also likely to visit these places, all of this hopefully bringing the likelihood of raw foods becoming a part of cafe and restaurant life in Australia nearer and nearer.
And the more people who do the same, the more likely it is!
So.... you could help me!
Also, go to local raw potlucks and help to build these communities as they are a great way to grow the movement.
And don't get disheartened! It's only in the last year that a cafe here in Melbourne has started with the raw food (Invita at Victoria Market). We are making progress! :D

I'm sure there'd be raw potlucks in Sydney!
Go to Raw Pleasure and ask there, there are people from all over Australia there and they'd be able to point you in the right direction.
If you can't get your health food shop to order stuff in, try an actual health food store (not a supplement place ;) ) and see if they can. Let me know if you'd like some info to give them and I'll PM you with it.
Alternately, if you ask at Raw Pleasure, someone might already have sourced where to get various raw products in Sydney.
Alternately, if you're ever down here in Melb, I can show you where to get heaps of stuff, and one of the raw food distributors lives literally a minutes walk from my house! Yay!

I don't yet know of raw restaurants although I do know of a couple who are hunting for a location in Brisbane to open one so it won't be long.
But there are heaps of potlucks and even some great weekly market stalls offering gourmet raw desserts plus the odd bed and breakfast and health resort.
The upside is however, that fresh produce in Australia is some of the most exotic and delicious you'll find in the world.
I've heard Australians who travel to the US become very grateful at the wide availability of gorgeous fruit and veg in their native country.
Hope that helps.

I'm moving to Brisbane in late May this year (coming from Ohio, USA) my fiance is a raw foodist there and is beginning to sell bulk organic produce (think co-op.)
There is such an abundance of beautiful produce there that it seems almost silly that there aren't MORE raw food restaurants in the area. No fear, I am getting Alissa's Chef Cert before I depart the states and am planning to do in home workshops, demos & utilize my personal training background to assist those in coming full circle in their health goals with the implementation of raw & fitness.
I say all the fellow raw foodists band together in one area & seriously think about opening a small cafe? I will be able to certify as Level 1 & 2's upon my arrival! :)

Hi BeFree2009
Living as I do in Brisbane (western suburbs) and being raw for a couple of years I'd be interested to hear more about what your fiance is doing.
Is he selling raw fruits and veges? Or gourmet raw ingredients?
Does he have a website or anything you could direct me to?
Cheers
Sue

Wow! That's awesome that you live in the same area, small world! :)
My fiance is in the beginning stages of our business, for now he's doing strictly produce orders (ordering at wholesale prices & delivering to homes/businesses.) He is on this site under "Isaac"
Once I arrive in Brisbane next month, I will be offering not only the level 1 & 2certifications, along with the produce offers, yet are also planning to open our home for raw potlucks, raw food workshops, & so much more. We are really wishing to make it a gathering space for like minded raw foodies.
I am also a personal trainer, group fitness instructor that teaches Zumba so we'll have the space for me to pursue those avenues also.
How is the raw food community in the area or have you not sought out others?

Hi Laura,
When you have details how I might be able to order from Isaac pass them on. Would love another source of produce here in Brissy.
There is a small raw community in south east Queensland. I've been to one of their potlucks a couple of years ago. And I hope to tap into it again.
They've been having some good international raw speakers here of late.
You can find out more about it at www.rawpleasure.com
There's a really good raw organic market at Northey St, Windsor which I go to regularly. It has a really good raw food stall.
I also go to the West End markets on Saturday's for bargain produce.
The Fundamental Health Food Store is a pretty good source of raw including raw vegan icecream etc.
I find it pretty easy to live a raw life here, particularly as I don't eat a lot of gourmet anymore. I keep it pretty simple.
We should definately get in contact when you move to Brisbane so keep me updated.
Cheers
Sue

Yeah, the open air markets atmosphere definately beat the 'stupor' market.
Tell Isaac I'll drop him a line soon.

I'd love to know about any Brisbane raw restaurants or health food store that stock various items. I can't seem to find Agave in Brisbane but have no trouble getting it when I'm in NSW :(

hi Klarissa,
my friend and I are about to open a raw food restaurant in Melbourne, The need is there, the awareness is there. Olivia Newton John's cancer centre is a stones throw from the shop we are looking at renting. It will probably be 80/20 raw as I feel people need that time of transition and to be introduced to raw in a way that wont let them feel deprived, but to be excited by the variety of food available
