I have been about 80%raw for about 3 weeks.. I jumped from a horrible toxic diet to a vegan/ as raw as possible diet.
I’m getting the worse migraines and I’m trying not to take paracetamol but I have university lectures and some days I cant sit in class without taking a pain killer. I have stopped eating nuts and I don’t eat dry fruit. I understand this might be a detox symptom but I don’t know if I can keep going the way I am esp because my final exams are next month… will I be migraine free by then? Should I take antioxidant supplements to stop migraines?
Help!!
you can add a little cooked foods back in to slow your detox.
my sympathies, i suffer occasional migraines too but i take painkillers when they get bad and i don't feel guilty about it at all. it's impossible to function when i feel as though someone has taken a sledgehammer to my face and head, not to mention the throwing up.
take care of youself and good luck!

If you go back to eating cooked food to slow/stop the process, then you'll have to start all over again. Many here have had the same challenge as you are.
Migraines are often caused by digestive problems OR the release of certain things such as caffeine, nicotene, aspartame, or some other drug you may have been ingesting.
I would suggest lots of room temp water with lemon juice, and enemas. You might also get some enzymes to help your digestion; do some stomach massage, yoga, qigong, or something of that nature.
You'll be surprised at how fast the migraines stop if you allow yourself to continue with the detox and how bright and wonderful you'll feel.
You know what's interesting about humans? When they are going through a challenge, they think the pain will never stop. When things are "good", they think it can't last.

that's not neccessarily true for everyone though, there are many people who maintain between 75%-95% raw without it being a huge challenge for them.
if it's your goal to be 100% and you do have trouble with having any cooked foods in your diet than that would be an issue for you. but whether it's more of an issue than not being able to function and go about your daily activities is up to you.
as a migraine sufferer myself i can only say that while in the throes of that torment i will do anything, anything at all to make the pain stop. i would literally prefer to unconsciousness in those moments than the intensely excrutiating agony of a migraine. it's hard for people who haven't experienced it themselves to understand how bad it is. i often hear people complaining that a bad regular headache is a migraine but let me say, when i get one i don't speak, i can't. i don't walk around, i can't. i throw up, i pass out, i convulse with the horrific sensations, i pray for relief. if some steamed rice and veg keeps that away, i'll take it.
you do what you gotta do, i know how dreadful it is. take care.

But that's not what we're talking about here is it?
my point being that adding some cooked foods back in may not be such a stumbling block for certain people, i know i can take it or leave it myself. a bowl of soup didn't ever set me back to square one though i know it would for someone else.
choosing which is more or less of a stumbling block is entirely individual. it sounds as though not being able to attend classes is a big concern at this point. perhaps the addition of some foods to slow down the cleansing process might be a good thing in this case. i don't know of a way to do that with raw foods short of grossly overindulging in overt fats. i'm afraid that might only add to the headaches though.
