I've been 95% raw since Valentines Day this year and am loving it!! I've lost 22 lbs, but have stopped losing wt 3 wks ago, don't know why, but have decided not to focus on that... But my hair is falling out!!! Anyone else have this?? If I wear a dark shirt, it is covered w hairs, gross!! Suddenly my comb is full of hair, and it's never been like that! I even notice a stray hair falling in front of me, a few times a day, WEIRD, I have not had this before! Why is it happening, and what dietary changes can I make to stop this?

I have experienced EXACTLY the same thing! Anytime I have been on a diet and lost a lot of weight quickly I have had this happen to me. I broke my vacuum a few months ago because I had so much hair loss and they wrapped around the rollers so bad it wouldn't move LOL.

I agree, sudden weight loss, as with any sudden shock will also make my hair fall.
Once my sister got into a roll over car accident and her hair was falling out in clumps right after!

I did exp. the first time I went raw. Maybe some others have some advice. All I know is that it has stopped and my hair is stronger now. :o

Now that you mention it I lost a lot of hair too those first few months. It has tapered off though to normal now (9 months raw now).

I posted a thread called "Parasites" because, I talked to a raw food lady who does Kinesology and she said I have parasites and that could be one reason my hair is falling out. She gave me advice on keeping everything clean and washing veges/fruits really well to avoid parasites. They treatment to rid what I have she recommended was/is 4 months and can cost $170 a month. Anyone, have any experience with this?

You might want to step up your raw "hair" foods if you are not already eating them.
I posted a list of what nutrients are needed for hair
Sulfur – MSM, onions, radishes, hemp seeds, Aloe Vera (has MSM)
Silicon – cucumber skins, nettles (good to use on your scalp and hair in juice form too – I have use this and it makes the hair really strong)
Vitamin A – Arugala, carrots, Papaya (you need the vitamin A combined with the sulfur and silicon for good hair)
Zinc – Coconuts, coconut oils, nuts, pumpkin seeds
Vitamin C – Papaya, lemons, oranges (MSM needs Vitamin C to work its best)
Iron and Manganese – Onions, Spinach, Sea veggies
Protein – Hemp Seeds (hair is 97% protein and the rest is other things esp. MSM)
Selenium – Macadamia nuts, Brazil nuts
Vitamin E – Olives, olive oil, watercress
To get rid of grey hair: Copper (hemp seeds, watercress), B Vitamins (Rejuvalac, raw sauerkraut or kimchi)
I agree that you might just to be detoxing out old cooked hair. But make sure you get the right things you need. The hair is one of the last places on the body to get nutrition if you don't have enough of it your hair won't get any!

I had the same hair loss you're describing, and I kind of panicked (I love my hair!). Mine lasted a long time (I think 3 months or longer), but eventually just stopped on its own. I did switch to organic shampoo and conditioner, but I don't think that impacted the hair loss. I think it is just a stage of detox. Now my hair is thicker and shinier than before. My advice would be to stay patient, make sure you're eating enough variety, and try to limit the amount of chemicals you put on your hair. Good luck!!

When I went from omnivore to vegan I noticed LOTS of hair on my pillow, books that I was reading, keyboard, and in the shower. It was enough take notice. I could pinch my hair with my thumb and index finger and at least a strand or two would come out every time. I told my doctor and she said that the vegan diet had nothing to do with it and that sudden weight loss or stress is likely the cause. I had been losing weight rapidly at the time. She said it takes at least six months to stop falling out.
So I waited, and after a few months it stopped falling out. Then as I went raw vegan and surprisingly it didn't fall out.
Just now I pinched my hair with my forefinger and thumb to see if any would come out. I pulled painfully hard several times and only got one strand altogether. My hair has never been this strong in my life.
This is just my story.

Great! BTW, the foods i put are just starting examples, if you can find other foods in rich in these things those are great too! Hemp seeds is probably one of the best things to add - it has almost all the nutrients on that list.
Good Luck!

I was told Alissa has a green food powder that is excellent for hair and also coconut oil is awesome for hair and skin.

Glad to here that, esp. coming from a guy. I am at the stage where I am losing a lot of hair. I will see what happens.
