Hi, I'm new here, am a forty year old Personal Fitness Trainer from the UK on a journey to change my life!

I have been vegetarian for over 20 years and a on-off raw vegan for the last 18 months and am now at the beginning of a path that will lead me towards being 100% raw vegan. It's certainly a challenge and I have fallen off the path many times but once you have experienced raw food for what it is there is no turning back.

The thing I find most difficult is having no support on my path. My hubby is vegetarian but still eats cooked foods and has different beliefs to me as to what is good for us. He is very interested in the Aruyvedic lifestyle and as such doesn't eat a lot of raw food at all. He is very supportive of me though but it isn't the same as having someone alongside you who is going through the same trials and tribulations as you are.

So, I am hoping to find like minded people here that we can help and encourage each other on our journeys.

Namaste

oh my gosh, helen121, your post spoke to me. my husband is vegan, but eats cooked and is also very interested in the ayurvedic lifestyle (which generally, for his pitta-vata constitution) doesn't recommend raw foods. however, i bet there is a way to work together and support each other even if your "diets" remain somewhat different. :)

Welcome!! I wish you the very best of rawesome health! Best wishes too for common ground. I know Ayurveda doesn't approve of raw food, so this might just have to be one of those lines in the sand kind of things. That doesn't mean you can't eat the same basic foods together - yours raw, and his cooked for each meal. Ayurveda when lived fully the way it is prescribed and meant can be a wonderful system in and of itself. It just isn't for everyone due to environmental issues and how they respond to them. May you and he form a deep, loving mutual respect/support bond through this difference:D.

Thanks for the responses, its so great to have some communication with people that are also on the amazing path to raw health. What a coincidence, veganmama, that your husband is also into the ayurvedic lifestyle. My hubbie too is vata-pitta in his makeup which pretty much rules out raw foods so it makes for interesting meal times. I can usually cope quite well with this and it is fun coming up with a raw alternative for his cooked version. I think the problem with the juice feasting was that I was just so darn hungry. Obviously because of my job I am very active and I guess that the juice just wasn't giving me enough calories to function well. Still, am now optimistic about my future with raw and excited to have this forum to help keep me going.
