I need a juicer and I'm struggling with my decision. I've narrowed it down to these two. The Solo Star produces a bit more juice and has the option of a manual attachment. I like those features. The Omega is supposed to be a bit easier to clean and has a longer warranty. They are very similar in other ways. Does anyone have experience with either of these juicers? Thank you for your help!!!
(I found an old thread that addressed this question, but I wondered if anyone had any further information.)

The Omega 8003 is what I've been using for about three years. It sits by my sink where I can easily clean it. It gets weekly use. Cleaning takes less than five minutes once you get the hang of it.

Can't say that it's the best juicer, because I have no experience with anything else - but it's what I got at the time, and I'm happy with it. The 8005 replaces the 8003.

It's very easy to clean too. I love it. It does everything. I got it because it does extract just a little bit more then most other juicers.

I have a barely (10 - 12 times maybe) used Omega 8003 that I will sell for a good price if you want it. I have all the parts but no box. It is less than a year old. I just never got into juicing enough to make it worth it.

Hi Kelly, Sorry I didn't see your reply earlier. If you are still interested can you send me an email? I tried to send one to you, but your profile is set to not except emails. Thanks! (shashibala@wildmail.com)

Hi I have a Solo Star 1. I like it very much the pulp comes out extra dry and I have had it for 3 years now:) . It does all fruit and veggies and grasses. Also I have used it for homogenizing my wheat berries for wheat crackers. And I make my own Aloe Vera hair gel with it. Also made my son pasta with it. Solo Star makes all type of pasta Fettuccini,Spaghetti. I don't know about the Omega juicer but the Solo Star works very good. Also customer services is very nice. I am going to upgrade from my Solo Star 1 to a Solo Star 2, all I need is the upgrade kit for $75.00 the motor is still the same. HTH

Shashibala, I went ahead and let my mom borrow it the other day. She showed some interest in juicing so I took it over there and showed her how to work it. I am sorry I didn't see your reply sooner. I am excited to see my mom juicing though. I am not sure how long it will last since she doesn't like to spend time preparing food.:)

No worries Kelly! I actually bought one since I couldn't get in touch with you.
I'm happy to hear your mom is juicing!

Is the Omega good with leafy greens? Thats what Im really looking for. I was looking at the Champion, but it mentioned its not specifically made for leafy greens, but customers said you can if you bunch it up, but I dont wanna take any chances with the $$ So does the omega do well with the leafy vegs?

Thanks all!

Hmm If Only I could read...

I just read...

'The Omega Nutrition Center not only juices vegetable and fruits, you can juice leafy greens such as wheatgrass, kale, spinach and parsley. ' ( which are my top 3 anyway)

Just in case anyone was wondering. LOL

I love my Omega 8005... I bought it primarily for wheatgrass, but it makes absolutely gorgeous beet juice, carrot, leafy greens, citrus, cucumber, and any other kind of juice you could want. I also throw a 1" piece of ginger root or some fresh mint into the mix -- yum!

Awesome... Do you grow your own wheatgrass? Also, how much greens etc would you add in your opinion to at least get a 16 0z veg juice? Thats my goal.

I don't yet, I just bought the seed etc. to grow it, so I can't speak from experience yet, but if you do a search for "wheatgrass" here you'll find some great informative threads!

Re: 16 oz. of juice... from what I've read, wheatgrass juice tastes awful... most people start with a "shot" of an ounce or so and work up from there. :D

Oh haha... No I meant veggie juice of greens etc. I can barely handle 2 oz of wheatgrass, ure tryna kill me... LOL.

I meant veg's.:D :D Can you buy wheatgrass in grass form anywhere? I aint tryna grow it. LOL

I got the solo star because it extracts a bit more juice than the omega and therefore the pulp comes out drier. The two machines are very similar and both seem to be good. I am juice fasting and the solo star is working very well so far. No juicer is "easy to clean" as they say. The tiny screen holes have to be scrubbed diligently with a toothbrush. That is the price we pay to remove all that pulp!! My next goal is to get the wheatgrass growing. I haven't gotten the supplies yet. I'm searching the internet to learn how. Have a beautiful raw day!

Hey Kelly,
I live in St. Pete too! That's great that your mom is juicing now! BUT, if she decides she gets tired of it and you want to get rid of that juicer, PLEEZE let me know! I'm looking to buy an Omega.

THANKS!!
