Hi,

It was my friend's bday party yesterday and I ate out with friends which I have avoided since going raw not being sure if I could handle all that temptations. Well I managed to do it :) I ordered a salad, even painstakingly avoiding all the sunflower seeds I hadn't asked to be removed forgetting that they will come roasted ( raw in mind and body lol)

Even though I love being raw and my body didn't want all the food around me, I couldn't help but feel a little down. But I kept reminding myself how good I'll feel the next day...

Well, something in the salad must have been bad because I woke up with my liver gurgling like crazy (even now) and a lil itchy all over. Feeling pretty bad like how I would have felt after a slip-up. :(

I suppose I just needed a few encouraging words :o

It's a little hard for me right now, what with trying to avoid nuts/seeds / cacao
I would also appreciate it if anyone could tell me some nice dessert recipes that doesn't call for both :)

I don't know abut the delete thing, but an excellent dessert is banana ice cream. Freeze a couple of ripe bananas, then cut them up into the food processor. Whir them around until they turn to the consistency of dairy queen. (They go through a little phase where they look like chunky mashed potatoes first, but keep processing. ) Pour into a bowl and enjoy! You can add soem raw carob or frozen blueberries or raspberries, if you like, but it's terrific straight up!

why do you want to delete this? it's a good thread!!! and an excellent question!!

I love the banana ice cream idea!! and you could also throw in some other kinds of fruit in there too!

how come you cannot eat sunflower seeds? even if they're raw and sprouted??? what about other nuts and seeds?

and MAJOR CONGRATULATIONS for staying strong... sorry you had a reaction to something in the salad... maybe it was the salad dressing?? either way... you REALLY should be proud of yourself -- well done!!

thank you thank you
I tried the banana ice cream and it's heavenly!
even better than those ice cream I don't miss
I think I'll try them with other fruit next time
I wish I can carry these around like the fudge balls and date nut torte everyone talks about lol

And thank you starfire :) :) :)
I just needed a good pat on the back
Raw is well, lonely :(

The one in the salad was roasted, that's why

I found I cannot digest nuts/seeds very well. Though I can tolerate them in small amounts, a nut-based recipe is too much for me. Plus I have problems binging on nuts.

You did well. It sucks that you got sick on something in the salad (or the dressing)? But your choice to stick with it through the temptation is wonderful!

I like to have a banana or mango with avocado in a blender - it is a nice 'pudding' - you can add cinnamon to it too.

Everyone has a first time eating out. And it's all about choices. You did wonderful! Who knew that there would be something odd in your salad though to make your stomach upset. I order a salad first, but if I want "more" I will stay vegan.

When I go out to eat I give the server a business card I made up on my printer. I get the BEST salads this way. It is so much easier than trying to explain what I want. Sometimes they mess up and add something that is not raw but usually it is always fabulous! I always use lemons wedges & olive oil as my dressing. I make a different design each time I run out of cards. Check it out below...
