Im seriously having trouble sticking with this. Could be im very premenstral right now and it's really bugging me. However, I cannot afford a dehydrator right now, and even all these fresh fruits and vegies are adding up. So I want to keep this as simple as possible. Would it be all right to just drink green smoothies, fruit and an occassional avocado?? I can't do nuts right now, they proved to be too much of a binge food for me.

there have actually been a couple of people that have lived primarily on Green Smoothies.... they are very healthy.... Lucy will beable to give you better answer (VeganforLife)....
also .. another gal I think her name was Val?? She was doing strictly GS... and had lost quite a bit of weight.
maybe someone can direct you to her site - I'm not sure where it's at.
Part of the key to being successful at this LIFEstyle - is making it work for you. Do what you can, make wise choices, and don't sweat the small stuff!
good luck!

yes you can. make sure you rotate your greens though. it's very important that you do!
add chia seeds and hemp or flax oil to your smoothies.
also if you have a high powered blender... add your avocado pit to your morning smoothie!

"YES WE CAN" ........StarFire was reffering to Valerie Winters...You can Goggle her. "VeganforLife" has only two words for you.....GREEN SMOOTHIES..I am sure you will be hearing from her.
I know the Nuts....can't eat just one. I could live on Avocados ALONE, they are SO RAWful and GOOD for you.
You can also do Sprouts and Grow some of your own Food even if you have to do it in pots. Have a RAW Day.........

A part of me wanted to try this too. I just feel like I am spending a lot of money buying salad fixing. I was thinking of making smoothies of 2 to 3 veggies/fruit, avocados and dehydrated nut cookies.

Perhaps that would work for a period of time but I wouldn't recommend it indefinitely. I really don't think that would be balanced and provide you with a full range of absorbable vitamins and minerals.

You can do anything you want but, how healthy you'll stay is questionable ~ AND how interested in food.
As far as nuts go, add them to whatever you're using as a base for the smoothies; grind that up first, then add the fruits/veggies.
Also, your jaw bones (as any other bone does) will get weak if you don't find something hard to chew on. Baby carrots work for you?

This is exactly what I am experiencing I believe...this is why Im having so much trouble....So most of you are saying that it would not be in my best interest to basically live on GS, and other vegies etc....Yes of course I can eat raw carrots, basically anything raw, I guess my point was if someone does NOT have a dehydrator....Do all of you have them. Ive been buying sprouts frmo the store that way, and eating olives,

Having a dehydrator or not really has no bearing on enjoying the raw food program. Storm and Jinjee feed five children and they don't use a dehydrator at all.

well let's put it this way....I know a person who very literally lived on pancakes. That's it, for over a decade atleast. And another who would only eat rice. And yet another, who would only eat McDonalds french fries.
They all seem fine, and are all in their late teens now. Not sure if they've expanded their food list, but I sure hope so!

Wow, I did not know that about them, that is interesting. Have they written about that at their site?

Absolutely. They've got ebooks out as well with their very easy to create recipes.

i use my dehydrator seldom. i drink 2 green smoothies a day, sometimes 3 and eat a small raw meal around 2-4pm. something like kale salad, cut up veggies, an avocado with cucumbers on a plate, stuff like that. a huge fruit salad with chia seeds on it.
simple and easy. honestly, i get into one food and then my taste buds tell me to add something else. i simply listen to my body and respond accordingly. so take it slow, take it easy, remove the stress from the situation. there is no 'should have' 'must do' here... just follow your bliss!
in time, you will change what you crave! trust me.

Many of us use our dehydrators to add variety and interest to our diets but it's certainly not necessary and we should limit our consumption of dehydrated food in any case. It's good to eat foods in their natural state without altering the water content.

I do not have a dehydrator. That will be for down the road more. I am new so, I am just making smoothies in the morning and a salad in the afternoon. That is working for me very well. ;)

Agreed. Of course you can live on whatever food you want but you may not be as healthy as you could be. I assume it's possible to live on the menu you've described but it depends on what you put into your green smoothies. The others have given you some very good advice.

Rght now I crave--and am eating a ton of--tomatoes and oranges, along with a few apples, avocadoes, and usually a GS. My daily diet in the past week or so has consisted mostly of these staples, with some variety--a salad here, some gluten-free crackers there. Some hemp milk, a little raw chocolate...
So, basically, it's tomatoes, oranges, avocadoes, green smoothies....I don't worry about it at all, b/c I'm sure it will all shift at some point. Eating what I feel like eating makes my experience of eating very stress-free. :)
I feel good.

You can also make raw soup by using the avocado with greens, tomatoes, garlic, onions, etc. Good luck to you.

I know I just want to smoothie up for May and June in order to get me out of the 200s pounds, or the obese BMI period.
And there is something about eating that makes me tempted to eat non-raw when I am out of the house. Knowing that I can only consume liquid foods would train me to stick to the program.
I just want to have smoothies for each meal and eat my dehydrated granola cookies twice a day.

Sweetheart, it sounds like you're hungry! Yes, you can live on green smoothies, bananas, and avocados, but my hunch is that you will get hungry or bored or both and will dive into cooked (that's what I would do!). In the beginning, it takes your body time to adjust to this way of eating, and you will feel like you are gorging on raw foods (whether its nuts or watermelon or whatever). Unless you feel like eating nuts is somehow dangerous for you, psychologically, why try to limit them? In the beginning of my raw food journey, I ate what must have been buckets of cashews. Only now is my body feeling like it wants to focus more on greens and fruits.
I guess my point is that you should feel free to eat whatever raw food you want in the beginning in order to help you stay raw. My experience is that eating a ton of nuts really helped me transition from heavy cooked foods to an all-raw lifestyle. As Alissa says, raw is strict enough. Good luck, and keep us posted!
