Are there any soup recipes that don't call for avocado's and olive oil? Just about every recipe I've found calls for a great big avocado or 1/4 cup of olive oil. Both high in fat.
Are there any recipe books anyone recommends that has fat free soups? Or at least super low fat.
It seems most recipes I find include the saturated plant foods. How can we lose weight eating like that all the time? I don't see it.
I made a creamy tomato soup one day with fresh tomatoes, sundried tomatoes, just a little almond milk, fresh basil and parsley, sea salt. You could probably make a corn chowder by cutting corn off the cob and blending with a little almond milk, saving some kernals to stir in, maybe some diced onion, sea salt or seasoning of choice.
You dont have to do recipes if you dont want to. You can eat simply and avoid high fat. I think that most of the heavier recipes are for a transitioning period until you intuitively desire to eat more simply. Thats how it was for me. I used to always put olive oil in my salad dressing but now I just use lemon juice and sea salt. I actually like it better that way now. Since this way of eating is a drastic change for many in the beginning, higer fat recipes are still much healthier than the previous SAD and the fat keeps you from craving cooked.

Thanks Jen. When i posted that yesterday, i was so bloated up, i felt like a giant replica of the pillsbury dough woman. I was stuck like that for 2 days.. then finally it all went down after i got rid of something. :o I'm still new to a lot of the raw way of eating and I don't know if I overdid it or my body was detoxing in a way.
I had tried the soup recipes from a site online I found, and they were so good that I kept making them and eating them. :D I never thought I would love cold raw soup, but i like it better than hot not raw soup. ;)
But i was worrying about the olive oil and the avocados..plus i love avocados so much, i like having one for breakfast daily.
Thanks for the tomato soup recipe and the idea for corn chowder. I'll be making those next after I find some good organic corn on my next shopping trip.
I also love lemon juice on my salads plus lime juice instead of dressing. Tastes so much better than the heavy fat laden dressings i used to use that weren't anywhere near raw.

I made a nice batch of gazpacho today. I always add avo, but you could certainly leave it out. Cucumbers, multi-colored sweet peppers, celery and tomato chunks also went in. The soup portion was ripe tomatoes and water in the vitamix. Add lemon juice, cayenne, basil leaves and some fresh parsley and all set. Just love this all summer.
Edited to add: Oops--I also put in diced sweet onion.

I never use avo in my soup...don't know why just haven't tried, idea doesn't appeal to me. In my vitamix I throw in celery, water, lemon juice, seasoning of choice, garlic ,sometimes some greens and then finely chop carrot, red pepper , mushrooms, whatever. Sometimes I do add some Olive oil to base sometimes not.I am still playing around with as I find my tastes change often as I am still new to this journey .

What about Alissa's chili recipe? It does have olive oil but I only put in half the amount, and I might even try it without. Even with half the amount (4 tbsp) I was eating that stuff for days so I was probably only getting a teaspoon or two of oil per bowl.
And it was quite delish!

You dont have to add any oil or avo if you dont want
I usually put chunks of veggie in, some pasta in the bottom-- then miso and blended soup
Lovely..can add spices..to add some heat

It is a myth that fat makes you fat, I must have at least 40% of my calories from fat (about 2000 calories of nuts per day, and another 2000-3000 calories of high fat foods) and I have very low body fat (to compare, when I was SAD and had much less fat in my diet, I was getting fat, I had much much more fat than I do now eating more fat).
In fact, not having any fat will cause your body to enter starvation mode and store excess fat, the opposite of what you want.
Coconut oil is well known to cause weight/fat loss, so you may want to start having at least 1-2 tbsp of coconut oil per day and watch the fat melt away.
