Hi, my name is Cheryl. I am an ER RN and I am new to raw eating. I tried it years ago and loved it but my son lived at home still so I was still cooking for him and...you know how that goes.
Two years ago I was diagnosed with a retroperitoneal mass that turned out to be a pheochromocytoma (a rare adrenal neoplasm). I have had six abdominal surgeries in two years and my diet has been s**t. I promised myself that if I made it through that I would stop coasting through life and start living it! So, here I am. :)
I start my day with a spoonful of bee pollen with honey. A little while later I will have water and supplements (womens ultra mega pack). Throughout the day I will have a handful of almonds, pumpkin seeds, lots of veggies and fruit. I also got a juicer and I love that.
The funny thing is that I have always loved to cook. I even considered opening a restaurant with a friend of mine. I also loved lots of raw foods already anyway, I just added lots of meat and cheese with it. Part of the reason I chose to change the way I eat is because I have quite a lot of weight to lose, and working out alone wasn't doing it. I have never felt satisfied on diets, but I have no cravings on raw food. I think it's because I am getting all the nutrients I need so my body just doesn't crave anything else.
I'm really happy I found this forum because I am interested in hearing other peoples stories. I love the before/during/after pictures. The wonderful thing about the raw lifestyle is the people on it really seem to glow with health...you don't get that with prepackaged 'diet' foods! Thanks for reading this long post...see you around the forum.
