I made corn chips today...two trays and then put mushrooms and tomatoes on another tray to dehydrate too...i have wait a while...a long long while....
the corn chips are from Mattye's recipe from Frugral Raw...only I added some flax, coconut meat, and n. yeast, and garlic and sea salt...
so this will be my first dehydration effort...I am no longer a dehydrator virgie...i am ...a woman.
next i'm going to try the riced pilaf in Frugal Raw...Mattye rawks...!

Best of luck on your dehydrating endeavors! MY first dehydrating experience was a nasty one! a big lump of bananas and dates that was supposed to be "bread" gross! haha

Thanks Jenna!!! AT this point I am seeing that I cut the tomatoes and mushrooms too thin!!! :o they are just about done...and my chips...ummm....not sure...mattey says to dehydrate for 24 hours...so far they dehydrated for 5 hours...and one tray looks almost done!!! I know I am going to have to figure out how thick the mixture will be...i really want the chip to work!!! I want to be able to nipple on cruchy stuff in May!!!

It is taking me a while to get used to as well. I did make sweet potato chips and reg. chips that I flound edible. I also really like the flax crackers with cabbage and carrots from Alissa's book.
But my flops have been some flax seed crackers with nama shoyu (tastes like pure salt....gross!) Then today I made eggplant pizza....I hate eggplant and I hated those.

oh yeah - dehydrator disasters could be a thread unto itself! how about not using the paraflexx sheets to save time, to only find your recipe oozing out the bottom onto the tray below (which held a different recipe)
you have to laugh...Alicia
