Inside a date..

On occasion I have found on the inside of a date, this dark brown/ black powdery looking stuff. What is it??? Is it mould? Ugh!! I have only ever seen this kind of thing in a date :S I just chucked it away as soon as I saw it but I'd like to know if Ive just been poisoned or something by it haha!!!

I think I've seen that inside of dried figs occassionally. I thought it was a bruise as an apple would get or mold. I threw that part out and used the rest.

I think it was stuff....growing. Don't eat it, I created a thread once about the larva family I met in my box of dates....play it safe, or pretend you're on Fear Factor or Survivor....lol

Didn't want to hear this about my favorite raw food sweet! Medjool dates! Just got mine out to inspect them, ate 2! No black powder...

Thanks for your replies :) I suspect it must be some sort of mould or something. Gahh! Lucky I don't come across it very often as I also love medjool dates!!
