Does anyone use stevia ? I make a 32 oz fresh lemonade everyday using liquid stevia. Both lemon and stevia are alkalizing, and the stevia doesn't seem to make me desire any other sweets.

I just bought a stevia plant today and planted it in my garden.

Now, how do I use it?! Do I dry the leaves and use as a sweetener or use the leaves fresh?

Please educate me! Thank you!

My family uses is everyday. Some things alllow the after taste of the store bought stevia to come through to much....kids don't like that. And other recipes totally hide the after taste.

I would VERY much like to add this to my garden if anyone has any advise on what kind of weather conditions it prefers ( I'm in New England ) and how much sun, in my garden it would get full on afternoon sun for about 5 hours.

Thanks

Stevia likes full sun, as most herbs do.

I just use the fresh leaf and toss it in to whatever I'm making.

You can dry it, but sometimes that brings out a slightly bitter aftertaste.

It's best when used fresh (in my opinion)

Thank you Rawpriestess! I did plant it in the full sun without knowing that was best for it, along with a new basil plant. And am glad to know I can use the fresh leaf, I tasted one as I was planting it and my it tasted so good!

I was adding it to my banana ice cream, but then someone posted here that it was making their hair fall out. That seems like a weird thing to be connected to stvia, but nobody ever responded, so I'm a little leery of using it anymore. As it turns out, I haven't really missed it.

Not that it is related but Stevia tastes exactly like nutrasweet to me. I don't know why... Nutrasweet makes me sick though, just a little taste and I want to throw up.

Weird

I thought the powdered stevia had an artificial taste. But the drops were okay.

Maybe i'll check out the drops then. Hey an alkalizing sweetener would really be awesome... I can only imagine all the great things I could create.

We use stevia in smoothies and teas and are ok with it... however, I find it curious that many raw foodists use the powder or liquid processed form... wouldn't that not be raw? (Like I mentioned, my family uses it and we're ok with it...)
