I like efficiency and often modify recipes so they become easier and quicker to make.
One thing I don't like is when you have to do several batches seperately in the food processor for one recipe, like making taco meat and salsa seperately for a taco/burito, so I made a version of the meat with built in salsa that can be done and only requires one cleaning of the food processor, here's how I do it, I put the amounts approximately and don't measure other than the walnuts.
-Walnuts, about 1 cup
-Garlic, one clove
-Chili powder, to taste
-Sea salt, to taste
-Jalapeno or tabasco sauce to taste
-Nama Shoyu or black miso, to taste
-Cherry tomatoes, to taste
-Scallions, cut in peices, to taste
-Onion, roughly chopped, to taste
-Fresh cilantro, to taste
-Lime juice, to taste
Put walnuts, garlic, chili powder, and sea salt in food processor and process until finely ground (don't let it turn to butter! This happens VERY fast with walnuts, so stop as soon as it resembles coarse couscous). Add jalapeno or tabasco sauce, nama shoyu or miso, cherry tomatoes, scallions, onion, fresh cilantro, and lime juice. Pulse just a few times to chop the tomatoes, scallions, onion and cilantro.
Put this in your favorite taco/burito wrapper. I used to use salad leafs but have recently started doing these with cooked organic tortillas, and today got Ezekiel sprouted tortillas, they come out great in these, better than cooked buritoes!
This can be done in about 5 minutes and can easily be 1000-1500 calories for others with big appetites like me.
I made a similar modification to a spaghetti and meat ball recipe I had which requires making the sauce and meatballs in 2 seperate batches, so I just throw in the meatball ingredients in the sauce and pulse a bit and I've got raw spaghetti bolognese without wasting time making meat balls.
