Hello all you sweeties,

Would someone mind telling me what the advantages of a Water fast are over the Master Cleanse? Will I lose more weight if I just drink water for a few days? Will I gain energy or what? How about sharing some of your wisdom with me? Thank you muchly:)

For some ... a water fast is considered the only 'true fast'... however... you will have MANY that would debate that!!

Water fasts are very intense... harder on your system and require a great deal of mental, physical and spiritual fortitude. Water fasts are wonderful but require great stamina. I've read opinions that state that a water fast is also very hard on the body because it is so demanding and flushes the body with 'intensity' if that makes any sense.

The Master Cleanse - although it too does require determination, your body is going thru a slightly more 'gentle cleanse' due to the fact that you are taking in the lemon juice and the maple syrup that feeds micronutrients to your body as you are fasting ... helping to sustain you a bit.

I have done both -- a 40 day water fast (for purly spiritual reasons --- waaay back in 1984) and more recently several Master Cleanses ranging from 3 days to 21 days.

the type of fast of course is completely up to you. It depends on what you are wanting to accomplish -- and where you are mentally and physically.

Whether or not you will gain more strength is completely dependant on what condition you are in. If you have a lot of toxins built up in your body then your experience may not be a pleasant one... but the final outcome will be amazing and well worth any discomfort you may experience....

this is the first time that I am actually feeling stronger with each day that I am on the MC.

the experience of others maybe different -- they may feel stronger each day that they fast... it is such a personal experience for each of us --- so that is a question that will only be answered while you are actually ON the journey -- going thru it...

blessings and good luck to you!!!

Starfire makes some very good points and I agree. In the end it's a personal choice and you definately have to listen to your individual body. Meditation helps tremendously...or at least it's worked for me.

I'm not experiencing the intensity of the water fast that you hear so much of. God is blessing me maybe I don't know, but it's really not that bad. I will tell you when I'm done if there is any difference between the MC and water fast.

I honestly think I was ready for the water fast...that my body can handle it because I'm no longer overloaded with toxins. Be sure I still have some in my system as evidenced by my coated tongue, but not on the same level as 1 year or even 5 years ago. Five years ago I would've probably been in agony if I'd attempted to do a water fast cold turkey.

Initially after 3 days of this, I say being a living foodist or raw foodist definately helps if it's something you want to try as you're generally detoxing daily eating raw foods. Your body gets attuned to this rhythm I think. But again, let me wait until I'm done to really compare the two. I may be speaking too soon regarding hitting walls or a healing crisis on this water fast. Yet, I've completed four really long master cleanses and this is easier for me than the MC believe it or not. And cheaper! lol.

Take care and best wishes whichever way you decide to travel Islesgirl.
